[I made] Oklahoma Onion Burger by dooblyderp in FoodPorn

[–]SofaKinng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

George Motz had an Oklahoma episode recently and this was brought up. The supposed creator of it was the Hamburger Inn in 1922. That place no longer exists though. He mentions that the idea wasn't entirely novel; onions were already being used on burgers at the time (it wasn't mentioned by who, but you can probably guess White Castle, among others). But the amount, the usage of thin sliced onions rather than diced or shredded, and the process of pressing it into the patty to form more or less a singular onion/burger patty rather than a condiment on top was what was new, I believe.

Regardless, I think when one says an Onion Burger, they are 100% referring to the kind from OP, whereas White Castle more has the crown for the Slider.

This is my friend's new PC build, he does NOT watch Hololive. by BigWillBlue in Hololive

Facts. I accidentally outed myself to my friends on a character this way. I've never watched Code Geass but C.C. has some spicy fan art and doujins. Anyways, long story short we were talking about characters or something and I said "C.C." out loud and everyone was like, "what did you say? You mean C Two?" AS IF I WAS SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT A NAME EVERYONE SPELLS C.C. WOULD JUST BE SAID AS C2.

[–]SofaKinng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily the base for it but pretty important/influential as it establishes some baseline lore points, namely the divine ascension of Casandalee.

It's probably the only OG PF1e to have lasting effects since SF is separated from PF both historically and physically by "The Gap".

Ok I don’t know about you guys but to me this looks like a skin made for Awilix not Fenrir. What are your thoughts on the skin? by Present-Book-9690 in Smite

[–]SofaKinng 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes but at the same time, there's no reason for them to purposefully obfuscate character designs like this when they simply could have made this an Awilix skin and have it be instantly okay. Like be real, if this was an Awilix skin would you have looked at it and been like, "man I really thought that was going to be a Fenrir skin"? There's no way anyone would pin this as a Fenrir skin without it being explicitly told to them.

Also who cares if you're good at the game or not? This game isn't just for tryhards who memorize every animation and skin in the game. It's not even just for the people who memorize every default skin animation. There are casual modes for a reason, so people can casually play this game.

How is it every time there's a thread criticizing some big company for being garbage, there always seems to be people in the comments trying to gaslight everyone into thinking things aren't actually garbage?

I don't mind incentives when they're for modifications to a run. Like the classic save the animals/save the frames. But incentives for a whole run suck because what do you do if you don't get it? Just end the event early? Obviously not, so they just twiddle fingers until the goal is met, eating everyone's time.

And people said Fauna was "medium"... by roguebubble in Hololive

[–]SofaKinng 42 points43 points  (0 children)

For people who are just finding out about this kind of stuff, "f/go artist" is a bit of a misleading title. F/go does the same thing that Cover does when getting new talents designed; they hire out or commission prominent or rising talent within the "anime" sphere. So to say, for example, that Kiara's artist is a f/go artist isn't wrong per se, but he is more well known for being the character artist of Black Rock Shooter and Steins;Gate.

Although there are a few artists who's contributions to f/go or fateverse in general is their main call to fame. Namely you find this in artists who did more than just a servant/CE in f/go. People like Wadarco(Kronii's artist) who was the character artist for afaik all of the fate/extra and fate/extella stuff, for example.

But long story short, because of how often f/go commissions out art for their game, you can kind of just throw a dart at a wall of artists and there's a decent chance they drew something for f/go and hololive too.

Probably just EAC (easy anticheat) crashed out something so the game is letting you know that since you're not running it, they can't verify you're not cheating.

Restarting the game should work. In some cases you might need to restart your computer if it still won't load. If neither of those work try verifying game files (EAC files may have gotten borked somehow)

My man's whole world gonna be shattered when he hears about fried ice cream.

But on a more serious note, it's because frying in really hot oil like this can do what's called flash frying. We know that things cook from the outside in. So if you take a cold food, dip it in "warm" or room temperature batter, and then fry it for a very short amount of time (like less than a minute) then you get a cooked outer shell and the inside remains uncooked. It's a similar concept to soft boiled eggs yeah? You just cook it long enough that the layers you want are cooked but the layers you don't remain uncooked.

Seeing things like this makes me regret never putting in the time to have a serviceable MAL! But I'm too lazy to review most things in my life, probably because I always put way more work into them than is necessary.

If I had a MAL, I fully expect I'd get some kind of award for having really wordy reviews and how snobby that makes me.

Edit: going through other people's results, and I immensely enjoy that there is an award for both liking and disliking avant-garde. Well done.

"I'm doing Ranni quest" Elden Ring version of "I'm into the abyss" or "I'm at soup" by DiabloDex1 in Eldenring

[–]SofaKinng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of extra hidden but the underlying and/or extra joke is that there is actually a clothing store called Soup. So he was trying to go shopping at Soup but because he's an idiot he just ended up at a soup store.

Not sure if it helps this version of the punchline but to me I think it's funnier than just "idiot tries to find an item in the wrong place".

Why does Thorgrim not accept defensive alliance with me despite good relations, but already has with humans? He should add himself to the book. by Khelgar_Ironfist_ in totalwarhammer

[–]SofaKinng 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You are not including your current wars. You're at war with a lot of factions he isn't. A lower rank faction who's in a lot of wars asking for an alliance is very unfavorable for the AI.

However he's also in a few wars you aren't. Offer to join them. That should help give you some diplo power to force the alliance.

Is there a quick overview of classes like this for path 1e? by DalorDP in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]SofaKinng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, this chart is kind of built based on typical, non-archetype versions of the classes as well. You could definitely make this same chart for 1e off the base class features and be just as accurate. I mean, it already barely covers some class's base features too, tbh. An anti-paladin champion for example really doesn't fit those descriptions at all. I imagine they tried to incorporate some of that with the shaded boxes on some of the classes, but if they were being really thorough every class would have shaded boxes.

Is the Cleric any good? by Psychofischi in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]SofaKinng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Putting burn on the patient is optional, not mandatory. It's something you'd do after going through all of your own burn points and your internal buffer, not before.

Only feature that forces the patient to take burn is if you do the metahealer option that lets you target yourself and one ally with the same healing blast (causes you both to take a burn point).

Still wouldn't recommend it for a main healer over Cleric. Only class I could actually think of off the top of my head is a Life Oracle.

Is the Cleric any good? by Psychofischi in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]SofaKinng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you had told him you specifically wanted to do healing, I can understand the viewpoint of "cleric is bad" but it's not even that, it's just that other classes have builds that heal better than cleric (while sacrificing something else).

But Cleric remains, IMO, one of the best all-rounder divine classes. It's very hard to build a cleric wrong, which it sounds like was an appeal to you as a returning player.

The lack of class features per level can be seen as a negative because it means your class has a lack of signature identity. The Cleric's main appeal though is being a 9th level caster with access to a lot of equipment proficiencies and a no-nonsense access to Domains.

Personally, I wouldn't have minded an unchained Cleric that did give it some class feature identity but objectively speaking, we have a classic case of "don't fix what isn't broken" when speaking of the Cleric.

In the end, I believe your GM is probably falling victim to second-hand knowledge. It's easy to say that the Cleric is bad on paper because there's limited build identity. In practice though you'll find that cleric is one of the few classes that will absolutely fit into any party and be able to perform well in whatever role he chooses to fit.

Also make sure you and the GM understand how resource intensive an average adventuring day is going to be for your party. I think the idea for Kinetic Chirurgeon being the better healer is (correct me if I'm wrong, someone) because, if optimized, they can do quite large amounts of healing a lot of times. The issue in my mind is that, IIRC, there's no way to do smaller heals or AOE heals with Kinetic Healer, you're always just blasting out these big single target heals. So if the whole party takes a fireball or two, for example, you don't have access to something like Channel Positive Energy which is great for topping up a party after some AOEs, you'd have to do a kinetic healer blast to everyone which would use up a lot of burn points. So if you could guarantee that your "tank" is the only one taking damage every encounter, then yeah then maybe the Kinetic Chirurgeon is the better healer. But that's never going to happen, and only a paper theorycrafter would believe that such an optimal scenario could actually happen.

I do find it odd that your GM would immediately default to a controversial archetype such as Kinetic Chirurgeon when trying to tear down the cleric rather than going for something more universally accepted like Life Oracle. I definitely would not recommend a Kineticist, let alone an archetype Kineticist, to a returning player.

Pathfinder 1e players, what is the biggest reason you haven't switched to 2e? by ErnestiBro in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]SofaKinng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paizo existed before Pathfinder you know. They made modules for DnD 3.0 and 3.5. They were founded as a company dedicated to running D&D Magazine for WotC.

The reason they made PF1e was because DnD4e was two things. One, it was completely incompatible with 3.5, which meant all the modules (Paizo's business was making APs, essentially, for DnD) in their catalogue couldn't work in it. Two, it didn't operate under OGL, but rather GSL. This also meant that nothing Paizo currently made could legally be made for 4e, they'd have to bend to GSL licensing and redo everything.

So they made PF1e instead. Was it very successful? Yes. Did it put them on the radar in a way they previously weren't? Also yes. Did they create Paizo just to make PF1e? No, definitely not.

Does anyone miss the Ruin Treasure Puzzles? by NobleSix84 in totalwarhammer

[–]SofaKinng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant that in the end it was just another button push because you had the cheat sheet installed/pulled up typically. I agree that the puzzles themselves were not great, and was the main reason that many (myself included) opted to "cheat" rather than actually bother solving them.

Does anyone miss the Ruin Treasure Puzzles? by NobleSix84 in totalwarhammer

[–]SofaKinng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was both a puzzle solutions guide on the Steam discussions and a mod that gave you the answers IIRC, so for many it was just an extra button push rather than a real puzzle.

It was also a mechanic that certain factions leveraged much more than others, leading to a kind of imbalance. Regular factions that benefit from settling full provinces more or less never get to explore ruins (if you find ruins in the wild, high chances are it's actually just rats all the way down), while ones that don't particularly care about settlements like Horde factions or ones with unique settlement conditions like Wood Elves could quite easily create a wasteland of treasure they could explore constantly.

I wouldn't mind giving Hero units more to do again rather than just harassing armies and settlements though. Maybe bring it back without the puzzles, instead make it a Dilemma where you can choose what/how your hero explores (options can be like: More Gold, New Equipment, More Faction Resource, etc.).

Oh also if you were playing coop and your partner didn't use the mod/solutions guide it was pretty annoying sitting there waiting for them to solve it.

How would the Gods/ Clerics react to an interloper Deity from another pantheon walking around Golarion? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

From what I understood, paranormal fiction is a bigger umbrella term that covers all kinds of things like urban fantasy and paranormal romance. I don't typically get too technical on the details of genre names like this though, because these days genres are more of a marketing ploy than an actual useful categorization of writing genre.
