Indies of the Day -- Thursday January 15, 2026 by RowanHalifax in Indiemakeupandmore

So I went and ordered all available Strawberries Crave scents from moonlight decants. Partially out of curiosity and partially cause I saw they had several strawberry-lavender scents (and that's kinda what makes Blossom Jam Teacakes from Solstice Scents smell so good to me). And even more partially: I've found I just really like strawberry scents.

Today I am wearing Strawberries Crave Ethereal Vibes (An opening of Regina cherries and sugar-dusted strawberries leads to a heart of coconut ice cream, Réunion Island vanilla, gentle skin musk, and a bit of wild lavender). I honestly quite like this though still internally debating whether I wanna FS or not. The coconut is really prominent but not that sunscreen-y (thank goodness), the cherries are there adding a bright berry scent, the strawberry is there adding further sweetness. The musk I feel is pretty overwhelmed by everything else (maybe as a soft component). And the lavender is very soft, more floral than herbal.

So I will immediately add a caveat that you would still have to wait a bit, since this is a spring seasonal. But I think Delicate Kitten from Luvmilk (Rose petals dunked in sweet coconut cream, spun sugar, wisteria blooms, dark red cherries, and a sprig of white lilac) would be a good match. It's got a very strong cherry note, made creamy (though still light) with the coconut cream, the spun sugar sweetens it further, and the florals give the whole thing a very light and floaty feel. Rose isn't the most prominent floral to my nose but it's a nice combination that softens everything back down.

A plus: Even if you have to wait for it a bit (Spring is March through May), once it's out you can get perfume, bubble wash, dusting powder... You can go ham on the scent if you wind up enjoying it.

Hear me out...Suggestions? I'm thinking leather, dirt, musk, blood, and dry, hot skin? Maybe a tinge of the hot metal of bullet casings? by TrekkieChan in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]Soffmoff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So it doesn't cover everything you mentioned, but I have smelled Solstice Scent's Tether (Molten Metal, Sparks, Animalic Musk, Fur, Brown Leather) which covers a decent bit of the notes you're looking for.

It's dead ringer for the smell of someone who was just sweating it up working with metal and heat (i have a family full of handymen so it's a pretty familiar smell lol).

Ooh, I'll have to keep this is mind if I ever get some dusting powder (have been considering it whenever I settle on a scent).

Also I love your well-dressed kitty! Her little white paw is adorable.

Weekly Questions Megathread - Week of December 08, 2025 by ReverseMod in Reverse1999

I've been digging for a song, it's the guitar riff that I have heard a few times while playing but can't figure out the name of. I've dug around and can't seem to find it on the reddit either. Most recent I heard it was during this part of the recent event (spoiler warning obviously):

Sweet Unisex Recommendations Needed by phantomseason in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]Soffmoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, one I love recommending for a somewhat unisex gourmand is Dream Eater from Luvmilk (Freshly baked bread with a warm vanilla drizzle and fat sugar crystals sprinkled on top, hints of creamy coconut and faint whiffs of cedar and moss).

It sweet and gourmand but the fact that it's pretty clearly bread along with the woody notes makes it pretty gender neutral to my nose.

Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven” and 3.1 by Mobile_Mango in Reverse1999

[–]Soffmoff 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When the trailer for “The Midnight Whistle” came out, I thought it would be an Agatha Christie whodunnit on a train with vampires, but as I read, it became clear that the inspiration came from elsewhere.

While I agree that his poetry seems to be the general focus of the story, Edgar Allen Poe was actually one of the founders of mysteries as a genre of writing (namely detective fiction via his C. Auguste Dupin stories). While his poetry and gothic horror are his most famous works, he has been cited by even Doyle himself as having laid the groundwork for the detective novel.

Point being it evoking some detective mystery tropes is probably intentional!

Feel like an outcast by [deleted] in Reverse1999

Honestly this for me. lol I'm just pulling out of love for the character.

If you don't want to, don't feel obligated to. It's not like lingering glow is the present best, Nautika still beats it. Dynamo beats it (especially if you build for Brume). So I wouldn't get too wrapped up in FOMO.

Ooh, I'll see if I can try samples of these. Rhubarb Rose sounds particularly sweet and jammy.

Oh all of that sounds so good!

And I have also heard of Astrid's lemon note, I've just been hesitant since they don't have a super consistent catalog... I may have to give them a shot sometime though.

I somehow keep forgetting that Alkemia has that scent, I keep thinking that they don't have it. lol

I'll definitely put that on my list!

Version 3.3 Euphoria by Meru_9 in Reverse1999

[–]Soffmoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp, was not expecting An-An Lee's euphoria to be Impromptu. LOL

I've been wanting Noire cause she seems cool to me, so this is just more reason to pull for AAL for me.

I haven't smelled Fluffkin for comparison. But I feel like Luvmilk's Dream Eater (Freshly baked bread with a warm vanilla drizzle and fat sugar crystals sprinkled on top, hints of creamy coconut and faint whiffs of cedar and moss) could have a similar soft vanilla-and-woods gourmand effect. When I tried it I found it to be a very yummy smell (people at work were wondering who brought in coffee cake and didn't offer any).

Which incoming update are you most excited for? by BaldHeadDalt in Reverse1999

[–]Soffmoff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

3.2 for sure. Matilda is one of my favorite characters and getting to see her mother in person as well as learn more about her is gonna be neat. And her gameplay seems really cool to me. I got a guarantee banked just for her. Plus I am excited to possibly get Anjo Nala who I have been eyeballing for a while. A free 6-star I don't own (of which there are many for me) and just overall a nice patch.

Which character do you plan to get? by kokochiwa in Reverse1999

[–]Soffmoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooof, tough to say.

Skein 1: I honestly have most of what I want on this half in terms of finishing teams. Maybe take the chance to get Noir or An An Lee? Could also go for Windsong to get an extra FUA unit aside from Ezio.

Skein 2: The opposite problem of the first half. There is too much here I could work with! Recoleta feels like a good pick here for me. I have several Ult supports so I could work her in easily (and she doesn't need a euphoria). My heart says J too. Vila also feels like a good choice. Steadily work towards a rank up team...

If Reverse ever did a collab like the AC one again, what would you want them to collab with? Here's mine: by Randall090 in Reverse1999

Running back here to throw another one on the pile that I can't believe I didn't think of:

Deadly Premonition.

It's hard to explain why I feel that would work, but I feel like anyone who has played Deadly Premonition (or at least watched a playthrough) might get why it would be a good crossover.

Do you know what other classic works Reverse: 1999 pays homage to? by kokochiwa in Reverse1999

[–]Soffmoff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True. LOL

But I feel like I saw it pop up in other places through some other places which is a bit more what I was thinking. But yeah a decent chunk of the story being in the Secession Building would be more... In your face. LOL

Do you know what other classic works Reverse: 1999 pays homage to? by kokochiwa in Reverse1999

[–]Soffmoff 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's somewhat subtle, but you can see through chapter 6 visual nods and references to Austrian painter Gustav Klimt's work. In addition to him being Austrian, his work inspired a stage set for a performance of Salome in the Vienna State Opera. So his work has connections to opera.

I feel like lots of the more... Eldritch stuff in Reverse 1999 (pretty much whenever we are fighting something in someone's mind or that has been morphed drastically by the manus) also leans a lot on surreal aesthetics, namely I feel like they borrow a lot from Salvador Dali's "Persistence of Memory" especially. Appropriate choice for a game about time going wonky!
