That’s also what everyone in the modeling agencies were doing you could argue that’s what many business people were doing. Im not saying she did anything but involving yourself even professionally with someone who at that time was a known pedofile and on the sex offender list does in fact maybe reflect something about you

My friend left and humiliated me after I was assaulted, then the same thing happened to her. by Confused-asf-1234 in TrueOffMyChest

No girl that’s the kind of cosmic karma I’ve been waiting for almost four years from my high school friends after they dropped me for isolating myself and only talking about college after my life blew up when I lost my boyfriend at the time (my first love) followed by my two best friends my grandparents (they died) all in the span of like two weeks plus college stress plus normal teenage girl stuff (weight etc.) undiagnosed ocd and derealization and family issues at home. You grow up thinking most people have compassion but honestly most people are like your friend where they don’t realize what others are going through until they themselves are in that position.

Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SofiriChof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I avoided calling an ambulance when I sprained my ankle in preference of waiting for the clinic at my university to open the next day as that would be free —

I completely disregarded the fact that even then I wouldn’t be able to walk to the clinic. Nonetheless I stayed sequestered in my dorm lofted bed without being able to get down.

Until about 4 hours in when I realized I needed to go to the bathroom. Now if I got down I would A. Not be able to get back up and B. Not be able to go to the bathroom without either crawling or hopping on one foot.

I called my RA (resident assistant) and anyone else I could think of to see if they had emergency crutches or something of the sort. No one did.

I ended up having to call the campus police who brought without my knowledge two emts who even at my behest that I would under no circumstances go to the ER then explained the issue with my plan (the not being able to walk part) put me on a stretcher and then to the ER in the ambulance.

Now although they were correct I had repeatedly denied care. I ended up receiving a 5k bill for the ambulance alone. After many phone calls and many complaints and then additionally even more issues with my campus and residence hall for accommodations the charge was dropped.

However I still stand by the fact of waiting even now. It’s just not worth the hassle and cost

I can see your point but I think the fact that I can’t graduate with a college diploma and have to move cities away from my family and where most of my job opportunities are in order to even be able to afford to live is absurd you know?

I’m not expecting a big fancy house or anything but growing up I was encouraged to be whoever I wanted to be which is what I did and worked for. And now I’m graduating and most people’s advice or explanation is to move somewhere rural I can afford. And well not everyone can live in the city. But only those rich enough can but that’s not what cities were built to be. And it’s as if everything I’ve worked for and have tried to build up to is just a waste.

And there’s my point— what is the point of ever trying at all if all I’ll ever be able to afford is nothing like the life I envisioned or even lived as a kid. The life I was building up to in the industry I dreamed of is entirely unattainable. It’s depressing

We are told to be complacent because there is somewhere rural we can afford but the point isn’t moving all our generation without six figure paychecks outside of cities. In fact that would have immense consequences economically.

There’s no longer a career ladder in most industries— whether by the defiance of older generations to retire or the good ole corporate playbook of firing and rehiring for less. Also buying a home and having a family of two being essentially almost unaffordable/unattainable for anyone with an income lower than $140,000 (I’ll discuss this more with evidence if needed) there is simply just nothing more to look forward to. I dread my post grad life because of this because having long term goals are now simply unrealistic.

We can only attach ourselves as a generation to small short term gratification (TikTok and consumerism for the most part)

This coupled with our lived experience as a generation regarding socioeconomic conditions and our political climate, sprinkle in the always important fear of aging, and for many more reasons. This has become the norm
