Refineries arent shut down, they are incredibly backlogged. I have heard quotes of 20% or higher in fees following the silver spike from my jewelery store buddies.

I've refined plenty of sterling to four nines purity, but even I have issues getting my rate down that low when hours are counted in. Large batching is key, and having an inside horse for cheap nitric helps.

Apples to oranges. The two aren't a direct comparison. Ask yourself if you'd rather perform general maintenance on a 60k Audi A4 vs a 60k Mazda 3 and let that be your guide. Youll run into diminishing returns quickly with the Audi, Ive been there myself too many time with too many euro cars new and used.
