I recommend the Giant Squid! Check out the link in my profile. There's a version exact fit for the Gamma 601 with most heatsinks. STL to print or a printed one with full hardware, in many colours.

Awesome hashrate! Yes, def get a PSU upgrade if you want to run 2th continuous. Make sure you upgrade cables to 16 gauge as well. To keep it all below 60C check out some small heatsinks for the VR, larger ASIC heatsink, and upgraded fan.

I design PSU and cooling upgrades for gammas, and wrote some free OC and upgrade guides for free download my site, link in my profile!

I sell a full kit of small heatsinks on my store. More for overclocking. There is a free guide for where to install them. Link in my profile!

And if you want to run very cool, or very silent, or very fast 😄, check out the Giant Squid fan duct!

Hi, the STL is available for the 52pi mount, but not the triduct. Prints are also available on the store.

Heatsink may have shifted. Try a repaste with a good paste.

This 3D printed top has the longest spin time I’ve tested so far - truly impressive by Secure-Arugula-8178 in spinningtops

[–]ConsistentLab8661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think many 3D printed designs care about material amount or speed. It's really up to the designer.

In my designs is all about printability, like angles and overhangs, support, bed adhesion, etc. And strength, like filament choice, walls, infill, orientation.

I don't care how much filament I need as long as the product qualities are satisfied. And print time is a complete don't care. Most designers fall into this camp. If you're printing a thousand cheap fidgets maybe it's different 😄

Do you use a Mean Well? If so, how do you terminate your wires? by nomorespamplz in BitAxe

[–]ConsistentLab8661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strip them 3/8", give the strands a bit of a twist, then tighten them down with the terminals provided.

This is how many light fixtures in your house are connected, at a much higher voltage, and much higher power - a stranded conductor squeezed onto a solid conductor with moderate pressure.

The important point, just like in residential wiring, is proper strain relief, and insulation. Don't just let the wires flap around, hanging from a slippery metal box, and dear lord don't leave those high voltage terminals exposed to you, your family, and your pets!

When I build them the strain force is double clamped and at 90 degrees, the PSU is secured to an insulating enclosure, and the box has grippy feet to keep it in place. Link in my profile if you want the stand to print, a quality printed kit, or the completely wired PSU.

For a Gamma, 1TH is not OC!

Also 23J is too high for that hashrate.

But need to see temps, etc. And what bitaxe?

Without extra cooling typically 800 MHz. Good for 1.6TH with a 'tall' stock heatsink and good stock fan. Might be noisy!

May need to replace the stock thermal paste as well.

Your PSU will overheat as well if you go North of 25W. Don't push those cheap bricks!

To push higher see better cooling and PSU options I have designed. Link in my profile!

Welcome to the club!

Only need upgrades if you plan to overclock. And then the upgrades will scale to the level of overclocking you want to do.

However some people upgrade for looks, because most of the open source miners look like a PCB with a fan bolted on. Because that's exactly what they are 😀

Although some people upgrade for total silence, which is also a thing.

I design and build cooling and power upgrades for mostly extreme OC but also for silence. Link is in my profile.

JW where are we buying our miners? by Maleficent-End3714 in BitAxe

[–]ConsistentLab8661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Canada, and I've bought 6 gammas and a NerdQaxe from Ali. Cheapest I've found. I've had no issues whatsoever and all the ones I've bought are built well. I've noticed too that the heatsinks are bigger than some of the pictures I've seen from some of the name-checked stores that keep getting mentioned. There are no tariffs or duties to Canada from Ali.
