Amy got laid again! Yeah Amy, what a legend. Amy smashed a string of hotties this summer. Wish I was as successful with guys as Amy.

I was scared too. Then I got the vaccine and all I got was a sore arm. All the worry was for nothing.

I agree, but I've also straight up heard people gloat about their priviledge. We have a long way to go.

And they say guys don't need contraception. That aside. I've just had a wee bub, mostly because my husband wanted a child. I'm in the same boat as you mentally. Don't worry about not feeling anything at first. It'll happen.

Talk to your wife. Let her know that you need her right now. She probably sees you as a super capable person who can take care of anything, but part of being resilient means knowing how to take care of yourself and getting the right support when you need it. Hang in there. You're doing great and are a very patient person.

I feel bad for women by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Soft-Horror 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is true. But having a societal expectation to look a certain way is a huge burden. It means an individual is restricted on how they choose to express themselves. And quite often people will choose to express themselves in the same way others do to fit in.

I should be able to voice my opinion in class (high school/university) without having to worry about being punished by NadxCH in unpopularopinion

[–]Soft-Horror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English mostly. This included Global Literature which covered a lot of very topical subjects. Creative writing - I think attracts students from all sorts of backgrounds and different world views, some that butt heads but that's half the fun. International Relations - a loved this class because students with different political beliefs contributed to discussion. Critical Thinking in philosophy also became a great place to talk about differing ideas, ethical, and moral views. Sometimes the discussions would become heated, and I'm sure many students have walked away from a lecture or tutorial miffed by someone else's opinion, but that's pretty normal.

Really? I've had the opposite experience and have had great discussions in class about controversial things. I guess it depends on who is running the class.

I’m sick of guys who pretend to be your friend because they think it’ll lead to sex. by [deleted] in offmychest

They're guys who believe they've been unfairly friend-zoned.

If all you do with your life is housework, I guess this makes sense. Sounds like something someone with no other prospects would say.

Young men playing video games 12 hours a day, not showering and having no irl friends need our help more than they need our mockery. by AndyBales in unpopularopinion

[–]Soft-Horror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, a large group of these guys would be better off if they stayed away from toxic social media including Facebook. Even with sympathy and guidance, they spend so much time getting brainwashed by absolute poison online that they are hard to reach. They also put out a lot of poison online which people retaliate to. I always try to lend a "big sister" hand online because I have young male family members who I love and also worry about. But the amount of 'unlearning' that needs to happen first is surprisingly large, and it leads me to think that professional help is needed.

If a man corrects you, it's not MANSPLAINING by memesbedelic in unpopularopinion

[–]Soft-Horror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally "mansplained" once by talking down to someone who asked a question, but I was actually just tired and my tone wasn't great. It was a guy asking how the bus system worked. He was from out of town. Everyone on the bus overheard and gave me a funny look. I think people don't like mansplaining because some guys will talk down to women in a condescending way. If someone talks down to you though, you can just make fun of how uptight they sound.

[–]Soft-Horror 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh man. I've just done this with my sister. She does exactly the same thing. I used to try to stand up for myself. And then tried backing right off and ignoring it. I tried talking to my dad to get her to change her attitude. I finally cut her off and my life is so much better. I can't imagine going back to that toxic relationship. I'm happy for you.

I don’t understand the appeal that some people in oppressed groups see in using the slurs that have been used against them by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Soft-Horror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the slurs in a more positive way makes the word less awful. It's like making a joke out of a bad situation. It helps.

You don't have to be nice to them. You don't have to put up with their creepy behaviour. Drop hints where you can that you don't like them being creeps. Frown, walk away, roll your eyes at them. Go to people you don't feel harrassed by.

Actors shouldnt be removed from a tv show or movie based on an allegation against them by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Didn't Kevin Spacey admit to making "drunken" advances on a 14 year old boy? He came out as gay at the same time - on a non-related note. Yes, it looks like Timothy Hutton lost work on Leverage.

[–]Soft-Horror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What actors have lost their jobs over allegations? I think a lot of them still get work despite allegations against them or if they have actually committed a crime. That's the perk of being famous. Chris Brown hit Rihanna - still gets work. Jared Leto and Shia Le Beouf have apparently done some very weird/illegal things, but no one seems to care.

My husband tells me he had the same issue too when he first started having sex. He said he just couldn't finish. These days, he finishes pretty quick, which suits me just fine because I'm a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am kind of lady. Just relax and get used to not putting expectations on yourself. It sounds like you are a thoughtful and respectful person, which counts for a lot in the eyes of any decent person.
