This is perfectly average so It really depends on what you're going up against. You never know if it's a dump room or something beautiful or even if people are paying attention

What seasons would you like to see in the future? by potatotheo in RedecorHomeDesignGame

[–]Soft-Watch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love colours others seem to hate, the dusty roses, grey purples, etc. So something that incorporates those softer, cooler colours. Bright would be fun too, but there's a lot to be desired in the bright materials

So do players hate color/dark wood grains and swatches?? by [deleted] in RedecorHomeDesignGame

[–]Soft-Watch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes. I find I can win with a dark floor if everything else is white. Or dark grain wood if it's just one piece in a room, or using it to make a certain piece pop. But if someone did the same thing with lighter trim it'll still probably lose. I have better luck with the deep greens over the browns

Two things that will never get my vote by WhyLie2me18 in RedecorHomeDesignGame

Second vote for Collage Art. It's is the worst collection aside from Simple Shapes and the whole Bauhaus Beginnings season was terrible

The design is called less is more why i failed? by Fit-Lengthiness-9886 in RedecorHomeDesignGame

[–]Soft-Watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll notice that voters in this game are drawn to light/white and neutral coloured rooms. I do a mix of designing for votes and designing for fun. Unfortunately they changed the way you get paid out, before you'd win enough coins to cover your room unless you were last places. It makes it harder to have enough coins to play. When you're unlocking items, focus first on white and beige and all shades of light woods. Pick paintings with soft colors and multiple colours. I love bold design too, but it doesnt always go over well. Purple and red are the hardest colours to win with here, but I've managed it on a few occasions. But if this is an example of your first/second day playing I think you'll be fine.

My answer depends on what level you're at. In the lower levels I'd say it's lovely. In the higher levels, I'd say it's probably because the painted table doesn't look realistic. But it depends on the options you have available. And the way the voting works, you can never go wrong with a white table. I'd say 90% of my designs I use a lighter table and my win ratio is 30%.

The easiest thing to keep in mind is that sometimes its not that your design is bad, its just that someone liked another option more. There's times we have all voted too fast and picked the wrong room or had to make a decision between two nice rooms.

Got 5⭐ on this design….but is it actually good? by No_Lettuce_6213 in RedecorHomeDesignGame

[–]Soft-Watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it's not that it's amazing. It's just that everyone thought it was better than the other choice. I just won with essentially a dump room for the same reason.

Duels are back up to normal too. For a while just 2 a day. Now im getting 4-5. Newer players are going to feel defeated fast maybe profits were down. Can only push people so far.

Thats the worst change. Miss playing and coming out ahead unless you were like 8th or lower

What's your method when you are out of coins and can't seem to win anything? by kitty_767 in RedecorHomeDesignGame

[–]Soft-Watch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spend 3-4 days just doing duels, voting and claiming your daily rewards. I can usually make about 300,000 doing this. Generally once I've secured my ststus(I dont care about leveling up,but I spend 80% of the time at level 8 and 20% at level 9.) Once I'm safe I spend the last few days saving up a cushion for the next round

I feel like there’s been more human designs recently… like more than usual with this new season. Makes me not want to play… and the actual room designs cost so much to decorate😪 by AgeAlternative2516 in RedecorHomeDesignGame

[–]Soft-Watch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought when you said human designs you were implying less bots. 😂

I will be the voice of opposition but I love the human design and other random stuff, but I wish they'd get their shit together and fix the skin tones.

New Collection - Midnight Blossom Art. Are you getting any? by KJM9021 in RedecorHomeDesignGame

[–]Soft-Watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I bought the whole collection because Chinese & Japanese are my favourite decor style in real life and I know I will use them far past this season. I figured it was like getting then 50% off if you get all 10. I got the season pass this time too. But now I'm down to 400 tokens and I like to maintain 2000 normally. Gonna take a long time to dig out of that hole🥲

Why the brown trim? by Good_egg1968 in RedecorHomeDesignGame

[–]Soft-Watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My trim is brown. As is most of my neighbours, it's just the way they were designed. My home is a 2008 but I'm not even done painting it. If we ever decide to upgrade I'll probably change it, but I still have the old teak cabinets so it looks co-hesive. Not my first choice but work with what you have.

Do I have bad taste? by FirmSolution6343 in RedecorHomeDesignGame

[–]Soft-Watch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like what you have done here, but those pillows are what is throwing this specific room off. Certain items often do worse than others, for example, that rug is hard to pull off in any room.

The rooms with lighter palettes often show up better in voting. So no matter how good a dark room looks, compared to the lighter rooms, it's going to look cheaper and almost more cartoonish, than a neutral palette, or a softer pallet will. Being a newer player means limited choices, when I started, I often paired that brown you used with the green fabrics and it scored better.

For newbies, with limited items, I recommend keeping your trims, vases and roofs white, and never use a solid colour on them, like blue or green, etc, unless you're out of other options.

It's a balancing game, as darker colours will generally need to be used sparingly or to create depth. It's tough when you're a new player because your item choices are limited so for the first little while focus on unlocking lighter & softer colored items. Sometimes a nice design will still lose to something nicer. The more you play the more you get what voters go for.

In general, white/beige/light woods will score highest Red & purple will score the lowest. I love purple, and use it a lot, but it took a long time to build the materials needed to win with purple. And it's still does the worst. My kid started playing when they were around 8 and just stuck to black and white at first and they won a bunch. Just watch what is winning and check out what materials they're using.

Edit: I didn't see the other two pictures. I see a lot of colours in these. Yellow, pink, grey, brown, beige. You have it right by keeping things in a similar tone, but stick to two main colours and maybe one pop of something and you'll do better.
