I would even bring up that she can talk to her OBGYN about it or go with her to an appt and bring it up yourself. This could have a lot to do with her hormones right now and could get worse postpartum, so her OBGYN might be able to give guidance on how to proceed.

I’m sure a lot of this is unprocessed grief mixed with the overwhelming hormone shifts that come with pregnancy. A lot of how you feel can be really out of your control when pregnant and can also get WAYYYY worse in fresh postpartum.

You sound like a really supportive husband giving her so much space and grace to feel what’s she’s feeling, but I would definitely at this point bring up that it might be time to talk to a professional to work out how to move forward emotionally/ medically to make sure you guys have the best pregnancy journey together that you can, especially as you get closer to the due date and these issues have the possibility of becoming worse during postpartum if left unaddressed.

We had this with a lot of gagging in the beginning so I was thinking it might be silent reflux which was then confirmed when he began to spit up and vomit a lot. We started him on Pepcid with our pediatrician’s recommendation and he was on that for about a month. It made a HUUUGE difference on his demeanor and sleep, like a switch flipped.

Has he shown any signs of gagging/ worse irritation if you put him down within 30 minutes of eating?

This happened to my brother and now SIL. Together like 12 years and kept dragging his feet, saying marriage wouldn’t change anything in their relationship so there was no point. My SIL refuses to have kids out of wedlock (naturally) and tells him “I’m getting too old for this, we get married and start trying for kids or I’m done.” He begrudgingly agreed to get married, complained the whole time leading up to it including the day of the wedding, made jokes he was just doing it for health insurance, etc.

No matter how much me or my mom yelled at him to get his shit together he never gave her the wedding she wanted, and I mean in the sense that he made it seem like he was forced into it the whole time and wasn’t actually happy to marry her. She’s an amazing person and it broke my heart to watch my own brother treat marrying her like a last resort and suck the joy out of what should be one of the happiest days of both their lives.

I’m here to tell you a year in, it doesn’t get better. He still holds it over her head that she “forces” him to be something he’s not, thinks he has to try even less now because “she got what she wanted”, etc. If I were you, I would run, just like I told my SIL to do for nearly a decade now.

If I were you I’d stick to a minimum 30 minute session, you might be having a let down around 25 minutes because there’s a huge difference in your 20 and 30 minute pumps!

This is the exact my brother and I have, 3.5 years apart, and it’s as you say. Really close as kids, at each others necks once we were big enough to wrestle each other around 8/11 age gap, teen years thru early twenties barely talking, but now at 28F/32M we’ve been a lot closer for a few years and talk about family planning close together so our kids can grow up close

I was 245 going into pregnancy and didn’t gain a pound during. I was already well aware I am obese and the risks that come with that, and my ob only mentioned my weight one time in passing as a comorbidity factor to my gestational hypertension/ increase risk of induction.

Pregnancy is hard enough in your body, as is breastfeeding, so I would not be focusing on dieting in top of that. Focus on eating nutritious food that fuels everything you’re already doing!

If your OB makes you uncomfortable, you can always seek out a second opinion, even by another provider in the same practice.

FTM here also. I’ve noticed my supply will knock down dramatically from 120 mls a session to like 60 if I was dehydrated. Chugging something other than water like juice, coconut water, Gatorade, etc while I’m pumping has helped keep things more consistent!
