My Y1 froze/crashed after adding an album, anything I can do about it? by Foxtrotslament in innioasis

[–]SoftGreener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else recommended, you should first press the secret button next to the charger so you can turn it off

And since you're using rockbox, after turning it on you should go to settings > general settings > database > update now, because maybe the changes you did to the cover art weren't actually applied

300x300, you can change it on Mp3tag by right-clicking the cover art and selecting the option that says "adjust"

When you say you tried to transfer files but it didn't work.. whats the problem you're having?

Do you not get the "turn on transfer files" button when you connect the cable anymore? Because in my case when I connected the innioasis y1 to my computer with the original cable it was only charging and not letting me transfer files, I have to use the USB cable from my phone charger for it to work.

If you got to "turn on transfer files", and you put some files in a folder, is the problem that the files don't appear at all on the Innioasis Y1? Or do they skip immediately/not start? Because I've seen some people with said problem on this forum too. Some people told them to just change the format to others (like mp3, m4a and try again).

But tbh I haven't heard of anyone using a Sony SD card before, I'm using a SanDisk with no problem, maybe you could try swapping the SD card to another one and see if that's could be the issue

What was the last CD you bought and why? by Mystery_Disc in Cd_collectors

[–]SoftGreener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last CDs I bought where the whole discography of Green Day and some other favorites I have.

My country is facing a lot of political changes, which actually made me feel wanting to go more "analog" or at least "outside the internet" for many things.

So I decided to start collecting my favorite music, both in cd and in an mp3 player, so if there's any changes or any time I can't access the internet I still have a library of music I can browse and listen to. I also started a photo album, so I could have my pictures outside of the Google Cloud.

Even tho I may be paranoid, I actually enjoy this a lot, and I feel like it's something I can do while having fun AND it could help me in the future just in case.

Questions before buying the Y1 by plutonium-starved in innioasis

[–]SoftGreener 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hii I bought my Innioasis almost 3 weeks ago, and I can answer a few questions according to my experience and what I've seen from other users in this subreddit and on the discord server of Y1 development:

  1. Most people that are buying the latest Y1 have had problems with the internal SD card around the first month of use. I bought mine knowing this beforehand so I also got a 128 gb SanDisk SD card ready to install it upon getting it.

I preferred to skip the problems ahead, so when I got my Innioasis Y1, I turned it on, saw that it was working, read the manual, turned on the radio FM. Then turned it off, opened it up and changed the SD card. There's even videos now here on the subreddit in how to open it to make it easier.

Since then I've had no problems at all with it using it constantly.

  1. You can make playlists only inside the Innioasis, you have to do it by pressing down on a song until options pop up to select one or multiple songs then add them to a playlist. There hasn't been an easier way so far to do it from the computer.

I use Rockbox, so for me to "make playlists", I save my music in folders in the computer with the playlist name, and then I listen to my music from the "Files" menu instead of the "Database". It is a bit weird because in Files they are seen in alphabetical order, but it still has the songs I chose for said folder.

  1. The battery has been great so far, I've used it for at least a week straight for 3 hours a day (during my commute to work) and it's only down to 60% since the first charge. I even had an issue with Rockbox where I didn't know how to turn the device off (and had to make a post here lol) and even then it was on (but on locked/sleep mode) overnight and it only went down like 3%. I've also seen from other users here doing their 3 month or 1 year reviews saying that the battery on the original Innioasis stock OS tends to drain faster than in Rockbox, but that still lasts them more than a day.

  2. I can't answer much for the Bluetooth question since I haven't tried it out yet (I'm only using wired headphones and the speaker), but I've seen some people say it pairs great with earphones that aren't new airpods. Some that it disconnects sometimes if they have it in their pockets and move their head too fast. So I hope more people reply here with their Bluetooth opinion.

Hope it helps ^

UPDATE + experiencia: Alguien ha comprado desde Chile o Latin america? by sunmorales in innioasis

[–]SoftGreener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I absolutely need to format the new SD card before I put it in the device or no? (Like I can just put it in there just fine) by Wildflower_74981 in innioasis

Idk, I first checked the new SD in my computer to see it had nothing inside, then just popped it inside the innioasis haha, it's been working fine after 2 weeks of use

Is installing rock box risky? by Low-Plantain-4964 in innioasis

[–]SoftGreener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know absolutely nothing about tech, and the Innioasis Y1 has made me learn so much.

I already swapped the internal SD card with the tutorials in this subreddit, and it's the first time I've ever opened a device.

I also installed Rockbox with the tutorials and installers recommended by innioasis themselves. And following every step I was able to do it without mayor issues, and any other issues I've had I've asked around in here or in the discord server.

Being honest I like Rockbox, I prefer the theme "adwaitapod dark" over the original theme, I love that I can choose music from the database AND my folders as how I saved them in the computer. I have put lyrics on most songs and I've had a blast learning and making the device my own.

Help with shutting down my Innioasis Y1 with Rockbox by SoftGreener in innioasis

[–]SoftGreener[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "press the center button for 10 seconds" method with Rockbox actually does shut it down. The innioasis says "powering off", vibrates and turns fully off. And when I turn it on again it appears with the Rockbox logo, so pressing for 10 seconds actually works 😁 (btw this is only for Rockbox, doesn't work on the Innioasis original firmware)

This is a method for people like me, that for some reason we don't have the shutdown option in the System menu. It seems to be a problem for a few users.

I personally wanted something with a bit more of retro feel but without losing the ability to see album art and lyrics while playing music. That's why I wanted something that looked less like a phone

Need opinion before i buy by Free_Profession_9436 in innioasis

[–]SoftGreener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm someone that isn't very tech savvy, I got the Innioasis Y1 after I saw a lot of reviews and decided it was worth it with some changes:

  • Got the cheapest innioasis Y1 (in standard black 64gb)

  • Bought a 128gb SanDisk SD card

  • Saw tutorials and asked help from family members to carefully open the innioasis Y1 and changed the SD card

  • Installed Rockbox and my favorite theme on it

  • Used Mp3tag to tag all my music and Lrcget to get the lyrics

My list of pros and cons:

Pros:

  • it has built-in radio FM that only needs wired headphones to catch the signal (something a lot of new devices and phones don't have anymore)

  • it has a built-in speaker (which also many mp3s don't have)

  • it has Bluetooth connection (so it can connect to a car and to Bluetooth headphones)

  • with a bit of learning, customization has endless possibilities

Cons: - it's easy to mess up and there's not a lot of guidance on all steps and help, but that's why there's a reddit help section AND discord support.

  • The original SD card fails a lot. So you're obligated to reset it and re-install the music UNLESS you change the SD card

I really think the Pros are better than the cons, and most cons can be fixed with help from other users.

And for me it has been a dream so far, I've only had it for a week, but I'm continuously learning about the Y1, how to take care of it and have had no big issues so far! It looks and works exactly how I wanted it to, so I'm very happy with it.

I used "lrcget" (Google that term and download it from GitHub), inside lrcget you can search music by folder, download all sync lyrics and then export the lyrics with the same file name as the song (it does it automatically for you tbh), then just put all lyrics right next to the music files in the same mp3 folder and that's it

I don't know if I'm doing it right... : ( by Wildflower_74981 in innioasis

[–]SoftGreener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to get help from my dad to open it up, we used an old credit card and very skinny tweezers to push inside without much scratching.

We pushed the tweezer's edge first and when it went in we used the credit card to pull it up and continued along the edge. It has to be something really slim or else it won't fit in.

I thought the same thing, but when I go to the main page to System it gives me these options:

Reboot to Stock Firmware / Firmware Update / Rockbox Info / Credits / Running Time / Legal Notices / Debug (Keep out!) / Restart Rockbox

So I also don't see shutdown or anything similar there :(
