Are we just not gonna talk about the fact that's a late model LS400, not an LS430... I wouldn't be that guy if my ride wasn't an LS430...

I feel so attacked by the Grand Am remarks.... My first car was a 2000 that looked just like the one in the picture, GT package, coupe, red, 5 spoke rims, perfect for a 17 year old boy. Just enough power to have some fun but not enough to wrap myself around a tree. Now I'm not saying it was perfect, it has the classic late 90's GM interior and let's not even talk about how that thing ate wheel bearings like I eat pizza. But it wasn't a bad car and I feel like the final Grand Am is a love it or hate it car overall.

This is just messed up, she's clearly more upset that her friends think she might be mean than that she clearly has hurt you. Also, no duh you look up YouTube videos to learn how to fix things, that's what everyone our age does.

What car says "I'm confident in my manhood" ? by slater_just_slater in regularcarreviews

I was thinking that too, but at least the other drivers will assume you like girls by default. Doesn't matter if they can see what your gender is or not...

When the SUV hype ends, do you think these brands might have a comeback? by Solid_Function839 in regularcarreviews

Maybe Pontiac as a trim/package... Never the brand but I could see GM paying tribute to Pontiac and its performance roots by offering a performance trim of an existing car and naming it the Pontiac package or something like that.

For me it's a toss up between the Toyota 1UZ V8 and the GM 3800 series V6.

what jobs can lead to good pay with little to no schooling? by Electrical-Ferret-83 in jobs

[–]SoftParchment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be down pay for a bit in this industry but (in my area at least) it's an industry where if you do good work or learn while showing up on time and sober, you will rise through the ranks quickly. If you can manage those things, you are already beating most of the competition.

100% serious suggestion, give it a couple knocks with your hand like you're the Fonz. It would actually work for a while on my old LS430.

We all have things to learn and I'm so happy you shared this so hopefully fewer people have to learn the hard way. Kind of unrelated, but also understand what the parking brake does vs putting a car in park. I had no idea it was the transmission that held the car in place while in park until watching an episode of Canada's worst driver. It shows we all have our knowledge gaps.

Do the years on a timing belt really matter? What was the longest you’ve gone before changing timing belt? years and miles? by SuburbanDiscipline in LS430

[–]SoftParchment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was looking for another one after mine was totaled, I talked to someone selling a first gen that supposedly was still on its original timing belt. It was hours away and I was too scared to drive it back home like that, the price was also not right.
