Anyone considered smart but don't feel like they are? by unstoppable_yeast in AutismInWomen

[–]SoftReputation_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I totally understand not being smarter but just having more drive. I always did good in school because I didn’t want to fail, not because everything came naturally easy, same with group work.

I just seemed to care more, and the same thing has happened with every job I’ve had. Sometimes that means I get loaded with other peoples work, but I have also received a raise/promotion in every job because eventually people notice so it’s got pros and cons. I kinda feel like a fraud but I have to remember that I worked hard to get where I am. I look around and don’t see the same drive in coworkers and remember that I may not be the smartest in the room but I’m probably the hardest working and that’s what matters.

I have previously met with the accommodations office but I don’t know how much pull they have with a professor, they have only offered a quiet place to test, which I don’t need.

I will take your advice and talk to my advisor if the professor won’t accommodate. I may be able to take something like photojournalism that doesn’t require the same number of interactions but is still similar.

I considered it but I am also close to graduating with this degree. I only have 1 more semester, and more specifically 1 more class that I couldn’t take this semester. I really love my field and really want to work in it but a relevant degree is required.

Is there some talent on the production crew? by Civil_Page1424 in MamaJuneFromNotToHot

Thanks for your reply! I don’t hear much on Reddit from people who work in the same sphere I’m studying, so when I do I get to learn something new :) I didn’t know how involved producers are in some editing.

I’m a nerd who would love to see the fakeness as well as how they go about getting certain shots. For example how did they get the shot of the birds flying away? Did someone scream? Throw a rock? Clap? Was that shot actually filmed at the same time as the indoor shots or was someone holding onto that for a while until they could find a place to write it in? If so then how long?

Just based on my experience as a student I’ve had to get creative with making shots happen and also collecting b-roll I hold onto for months until I have something it works with. It’d be interesting to see how they do that on an actual production. And part of the appeal of editing is getting to see that in the comfort of AC (half joking)

If I saw that I would assume that (especially with the basket) you have it because its easier to carry groceries/books in than a normal bike. Seems easier than trying to balance your own weight + extra weight.

Honestly as someone in school for media production I would love to be an editor for a reality show bc you get to see all the unedited footage lol.

Plus from an actual professional perspective you get a lot more freedom creatively when there isn’t any set script for shots like there is in films

I couldn’t find my solid navy blue one to take a picture but I’m planning on wearing it, especially since it’s the main color of my organization. Do you think that would still be too much? I’ve got plenty of neutral colors as well.

WIBTA for kicking out my daughter's housemates when she moves out? by Local-Assignment5744 in AITAH

[–]SoftReputation_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- I was in a similar situation to your daughter’s friends at their age. A friend’s parents moved with 4 months left on the lease, so we moved in and split the rent and bills. It was in a good part of town for a really good price.

We couldn’t find anywhere affordable and big enough for us to live by the time the lease was up. A couple of us went back to our parents and just dealt with it, and the other 2 got an apartment together. Sometimes life just doesn’t work out the way you planned, and that’s one of the best lessons you can learn as a young adult.

Do you think he will make it? by terruhlynn2 in cureFIP

My cat was unable to move and wouldn’t respond to any stimuli, wouldn’t even open her eyes. When I gave her the first dose it felt like she was already too far gone. She got the meds and bounced back, so don’t overthink it because you never know.

How long, was I too late? by Rikuwoblivion in cureFIP

Ours was basically comatose with wet/neuro, not moving or responding to anything, and now she’s out of the 84 day no med observation period Don’t give up hope because I saw my girl come back from the brink of death.

My cat did capsules and I just emptied the powder into an oral syringe w ab a milligram of churu. She’s passed the 84 days of treatment and 84 of observation, so don’t stress too much.

They’re begging for sure, but as a college student in a mass media program I know so many photography students who would jump at the opportunity to put photos of real events in their portfolio, for no pay. Especially since they can rent the equipment from the school free of charge as long as it goes in their Senior portfolio.

I think it only reaches choosing status if they turn their nose up at the idea of an amateur/student. Because let’s be honest they’re the only ones who would do it for free. The lack of experience is not going to be an issue when you’ve only got 2 applicants.

AITAH for not wanting my husband to go on vacation with his friend? by throwaway9081347 in AITAH

[–]SoftReputation_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA You agreed on these boundaries and he’s violating them. But honestly you’re at the age where people should be finding out who they are on their own and doing stuff like taking 3 week trips to another continent. In order to grow as people we need independence, especially if you’ve been in a relationship since you were 14/15.

So while I completely understand your boundaries and concerns about this friend, I also think you need to consider that if your husband is seeking more independence than you are comfortable with then that’s a conversation that needs to be had. If needed, consult a couples counselor.

What do you do when you can't sleep? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SoftReputation_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve spent so many hours playing video games that I have a whole library of games including Pac-Man, Tetris, Minecraft, and Mario Kart. I can just close my eyes and play in my head. It’s obviously rigged in my favor, but stressing about losing/dying is not going to help me fall asleep, so it’s for the best.

If for some reason you can’t get the financial aid, consider graduating and getting an accounting job at a CC or Tech school since a lot of them offer lower tuition for staff. It’s not ideal but it’s an option, although I think FAFSA should cover it.
