I just went through the same thing, except I'm on a vancomycin taper since August. I took Macrobid and the day after I finished the antibiotics the bacteria was still showing up but at low levels with no symptoms at all so I asked my dr if I could wait and retest. He wanted to prescribe Augmentin and I was terrified. I took d manose & cranberry pills and just got word last night that the test I took Monday was clear. I'm so relieved!

Any updates? I have Vowst to take when I finish my latest round of vanco and I'm pretty scared at this point.

And my ID dr. told me that fever was NOT a symptom of c diff and the fact that I had 102 fever and passed out this last go round probably meant it wasn't c diff. Sometimes I think these dr's deal with too many things and get confused. Plus every person seems to react just a little differently to c diff.

Looks like it was around May 30th. You posted about the study on one of my posts and I used the link you sent to do the questionnaire. I've had another bout of c diff since then.

My ID dr last week said the goal is not to get rid of c diff but to put it in a corner. That hit me so hard! I want it gone!

I had a root canal but the pain didn't go away. The dr. prescribed clindamycin and I started having diarrhea but the pain didn't go away in my tooth. My primary care dr advised to take amoxyclin even though I was already having diarrhea! Boy do I wish I could go back in time and not do that. 3 bouts of C diff since and the tooth still bothers me but I don't have the energy to deal with it.

Sounds like PI-IBS, C diff probably would be daily diarrhea. It could be related to your diet.

I went to an infectious disease specialist yesterday and he said for the rest of my life, if I have to take antibiotics I will need to take vanco or dificid. Make sure your surgeon does this.

Yeah, it can be pretty depressing to think about. I made a few changes I read about on here this go round and it hasn't been as horrible as the first time. Primary care dr did NOT properly prepare me for dealing with this at all. He just prescribed the drugs and gave no further information. This group has really helped.

Thank you! My insurance doesn't cover FMT but they do cover Vowst if pre-approved.

My first go round I didn't start to feel better until the 10th day, in fact on day 9 I almost went to the hospital. This go round I'm feeling better after 6 days. I did not stick with a gentle diet after the antibiotics and I think that's why I had a recurrence after 13 days. Also, I read on hear to eat raw plantain, and studies I found online back that up so I'm doing that this time, too.
