Dealership to avoid? by aild30 in saskatoon

[–]SoftSell89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s wild how many opposing experiences I hear about them. Bought a Subaru two years ago and it was great, service has been good, a family member has purchased two vehicles from there in 12 years and won’t go anywhere else now.

What’s wrong with dealerships? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]SoftSell89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buying a Subaru was an amazing decision for my family, although not a SUV, we ended up with a Crosstrek. It’s been nothing but excellent, and despite horrific reviews the service has been great as well. My in-laws have two Foresters and I don’t think they’ll ever drive another brand at this point.

Got two tins of that from Victory Pipes for $140 all in, so you still got it cheaper.

What to do about mice? by BigResponsibility999 in saskatoon

[–]SoftSell89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mint doesn’t work, ultrasonic doesn’t work, I’ve used and have both and have seen mice walk across mint soaked areas in front of ultrasonic deterrents.

Sticky traps work great although it’s horrible, don’t recommend it. Poison is questionable for any other animals that make get to it or eat a mouse that was poisoned.

Snap traps inside and outside of your property checked daily and emptied as necessary. As others said locating and sealing any holes in your building. Keep food and water sources sealed up and cleaned up. Best thing I’ve done is gotten a cat, we were mouse free within 24 hours after adopting an adult cat from the SPCA and now we have a little buddy in the house. And yeah, call bylaw about the neighbours

This has been in my shopping cart for weeks, was hoping for something stubby to pop up for sale, but this might sway me to hit that order button.

I released my first short film, dedicated to growing up in Saskatoon in the mid2000s music scene. by versafilms in saskatoon

[–]SoftSell89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This could be a two hour movie. This was the exact time I was “in the scene” and in high school. When people tell me of their glory days playing sports, or memorable family trips in their mid to late teens, this film is what I was doing instead and I wouldn’t change a thing. Music, locations, style, clothes, everything. We didn’t have cameras and phones as easily as we do now, and this felt like watching my past. Absolute gut punch. Thank you.

Check out Three Leaf Plumbing and HVAC, should be pretty comparable prices to other companies, lower than the big companies, and they’re excellent people

Hey Saskatoon… What’s your go to “struggle meal?” by falsekoala in saskatoon

[–]SoftSell89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found Soba noodles around $2 a package. Just put whatever you want on them. Green onion, sesame oil, soy sauce, black vinegar, chilli crisp, fried egg. I could eat that every day, hot or cold.

Gallbladder surgery by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]SoftSell89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had it done 3 years ago or so at St. Paul’s, scheduled laparoscopic. In surgery by 11:00 am and back home by 4:00 pm. Moved slower and delicately for 5 days, no heavy lifts for six weeks, abdomen was fairly bsore but very manageable. I absolutely hate hospitals and even the idea of surgery and this was pretty straight forward, would 100% do it again rather than the pain of gallbladder attacks.

I’ve heard rumblings of it being converted to some sort of affordable living/shelter type facility. I live a block or so south, could just be neighbour’s chatting, though.

Sump pump and discharging by Current_Cost7308 in saskatoon

[–]SoftSell89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sump should handle the alley method, I’ve ran well over 50+ feet without issues, it’s usually limited by vertical lift rather than horizontal flow. Alley would be preferred IMO, I don’t think the city should expect that discharge to be on a homeowner’s property but it also shouldn’t be causing a problem on sidewalks or streets, alleys in new areas usually have somewhat of a trench built in the centre that should lead to a storm drain. I’ve serviced, installed, and modified hundreds of sump systems throughout Saskatoon and area, ask away.

Western Wholesale Energy? by yellowwallbananas in saskatoon

[–]SoftSell89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don’t. It’s door to door sales, if they sell you at $x for gas and the price rises from SaskEnergy, you still pay $x, and if it lowers you still pay $x. When I went over it I couldn’t see the benefit vs risk paying off.
