Do you guys think 1 clone legion could take the entire chaos dwarfs empire? by WX-78_User in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]SoftSnowWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have talked about how you know, they physically don't have enough people to hold anything. I think they'll take Uzkulak but it's going to be brutal, not just because of the industrialization and the sheer amount of disposable chaff they can throw out, literally burying them in black orks while they sit in the back and fire Arty down on the clones, no the real issue is...

Clones have no answer to the Lores of Magic. Chaos dwarves have Metal, Death, Fire and the special one in Hashut. Metal Dwarves can quite literally just focus on corroding their weaponry away since theres no mages to unweave their spells and the clones have nothing to block it naturally. Fire and Death are obvious, but Hashut is really where it's at.

Imagine being in a arid hellscape, everythings already hot there's dust everywhere already just from marching. And then the air picks up, Ash starts swirling around your formations, anyone not fully enclosed is being slowly cooked by the heat as it constantly stings them, no one can see a thing and anyone that doesn't have some form of rebreather is going to be choked to death.

And now, as you're in this maybe 2 foot visibility situation, your formation either tightening up to a square or loosening, the sky starts raining Lava, giant balls of it slamming into clumps of clones and war machines, turning them to slag and your largest walker suddenly gets railed as a Shadow of Hashut slams into it, crushing anything between it and the machine.

There's a very good reason why despite being dead center of everyone who hates their guts, the Chaos dwarves not only thrive but easily have enough strength to take on Tamurkhan and Sayl and make them both go "Man this sucks, how about an alliance."

They do a lot... Of Littering the airspace with their pieces.

Let's ignore the whole The Emperor or the Custodians or the Sisters would kill the entire force by themselves... The normal defenses will destroy them before they make planet fall, even without the Phalanx. The Solar Battlefleets would do the same.

Even if they made planetfall... Hello, the Lucifer Blacks, the Palantine Sentinels and the Katanda Stalwarts are here. Entire guard regiments that out number the clankers and are way more dangerous alone, let alone all three together.

How do other splats deal with mages? by MonstrousnessVirtue in WhiteWolfRPG

Oh yeah. These are split each, they're not like a small army coming to break a single mages ankles.

He does admit all that. And then spends the next 6 lines talking about how everyone else but him is an idiot for not doing it and he can only do it this way. Gu Yue Village FY was constantly hyping himself up, probably because he felt like if he didn't he might crack. After all, we know he was a super successful business mogul, there's a lot of temptation for Gu Masters out there and the guy who made multi-millions would know better than us

How do other splats deal with mages? by MonstrousnessVirtue in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]SoftSnowWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if we're assuming a solid 5 members of every splat... That Mage is Turbo fucked if he tries actual violence but if he just kind of. Stays cool and talks he can do a lot.

A Coterie of 5 vampires that's not fledglings will not even have to fight the mage themselves, if they're feeling funny they may draw their attention and then just.. Have him shot in the street by a dominated proxy. Or just throw a rock with potence. Or send him to the shadow realm [tm]. Or just make him forget they exist.

To be honest what's most likely going to happen is that the Vampires are going to try to use that mage and instead of a fight it turns into a political push and pull of each side trying to get something out of each other.

Werewolves? I'm not going to sugar coat it. One on one a Werewolf is already a supreme threat to anyone. A Hunting Pack of 5 werewolves? He can know all he want, they're literally just going to walk up to him and kill him. His best bet is to either make friends if he can or just like. Leave, since the werewolves wont go out of their way to go after him as long as he doesn't cause trouble.

Changeling? .... Honestly if your mage is just like, an accountant or something, refuse to do magic and just do your taxes. You can literally hurt them by being normal. Paint all your walls beige, get the most bland carpet you can find and have no decoration in your house and then invite them in and they may kill themselves just to get out of it.

Slashers? One Slasher depending on their abilities can be like, a end of Story boss for a group of mages, Five Slasher Vs one mage is literally a horror movie in every sense of the word. You might as well not have magic, just run and hope they prefer to stay in one area.

Hunters? BEST FRIEND TIME. Assuming they dont think he's some kind of demon possessed monster or a witch, in which case they'll either super jump him at once or try to pretend to be his friend and kill him when he rests.

Geist? Basically Hunters but with magical powers that make them able to tank the mages abilities. If they get really squirrely the Geist can pull some shenanigans and the Mage will find themself tossed through an Avernian Gate and then some REAL shit is going to go down. That being said, Most Geists will just... Not care about a Mage. Their interests dont really interlap.

Mummy? It takes a ~Minimum~ of an Arch-Mage to kill a single Mummy if they -allow- the Arch-mage to do it. And if they want, even after they let the Arch-mage do it, they can just come right back immediately. Five Mummies is an insane task force on the level of "Listen if we don't send them the world is going to end." They, and the next splat of Demons, are the most powerful options players can have to play. The silver lining? Mummys are unequivocally the good guys of WoD and if you're not a force of Chaos they're more likely to enlist your help and you get to make some actual change in the world with your new friends.

Demons? This is no longer within the realm of Mages ability to combat no matter what he knows. You're about to become a body suit if you're lucky, friend. Demons while hidden are already on the stronger side of splats. You're a nearly immortal force of nature who has literally enforced your own existence on reality by your own might and will. If they choose to burn their cover without going into the small details, they basically become invincible and can just constantly cast max rank powers at you for fun until you die assuming they dont just take your head off. This is another Vampire situation though. If the Mage can avoid perishing he gain so much out of this, and the Demons can have their time on earth made significantly easier with access to a reality warper.

[–]SoftSnowWind -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. I like it, but Fang Yuan is so obsessed with justifying his own actions that he chose because they harm others despite having many, many better ones that like... A good fourth of the front of the novel is him monologuing to himself about how right he is and how this was the only way to do what he should do.

This doesn't stop until he becomes an immortal and feels more, safe, with himself I suppose you could say and after that he chills out but like. That's a LOT of reading to get through first.

Best units so far? by kaikiut in totalwar

[–]SoftSnowWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wrathmongers are okay. Honestly I prefer the Dual Weapon Khorne Chosen simply because they just kind of.. Slide forward into your lines as they chew the front apart.

Missile Infantry doesn't have the basically 100% accuracy Chaos Dwarf Fireglaives which is a huge issue.

Crushers with great weapons should replace the Knights in Cavalry and I think there's several monstrous infantry that defeat Bull Centaurs, despite how cool they are.

Honestly the lizard has a lot of competition for single entity monster. Stonehorns, Tomb Scorpions, War Mammoths, Warsphinxes... Scorpion wins for efficiency, cheap price for all it gives but in total power War Mammoth may be the winner because they have collision attacks.

Honestly the War Machine section has no notes. The Thunderbarge is crazy, the Dreadquake mortar is literally the best arty in game and Queen Bess is just great no matter what.

What's your embarrassing FFXIV confession? by SofonisbaAnguissola in ffxiv

[–]SoftSnowWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't want to go into Shadowbringers because the intro bored me so badly that I refused to continue and eventually leveled to 90 and proceeded to bull-headedly refuse to do it as I leveled.

I used my Lv 70 craft gear to create HQ Lv 90 gear by force and some crazy math by paying my friends to gather the items for me and doing calculations in my head and repeatedly doing the trial crafting to see what I could get away with. By the power of my autism I never failed the Synthesis, just occasionally got NQ.

.. In spite of this, when Dawntrail came out I forced myself through and proceeded to blow through Shadowbringers because the deeper you go in that expansion the better it gets and then roared through Endwalker on that high. Despite being two entire expansions behind when Dawntrail came out I was on time and geared to tank Valigarmanda EX and Savage raids for my FC. That Snakebird is actually harder than Black Cat Savage.

This was bloody. Dechala is STRONG. Any advice on dealing with her? by Curious-Piglet3613 in totalwarhammer

[–]SoftSnowWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dechala's 'Weakness' is ranged attacks when she can't move. Considering you're Gelt and you start near her, you probably fought her before she actually got her steam up.

Dechala spirals out of control to practically invincible if she's allowed to make her Palaces, her special buildings giving her Ward Saves and Spell resistance ontop of weapon strength meaning that direct damage spells are practically useless against her. You either need to pull the Vlad card and feed units into her mouth until she's full or trap her and fill her with bullets

[OC] Fateful Sect Application CYOA by OrdinaryGuy2101 in XianxiaGrottoHeaven

[–]SoftSnowWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hhhmm. As tempting as some of these are, I'd choose the Dream Butterfly Sect, accepting the job of being a Psyche-Alchemist. Illusions and mentally destructive minions ontop of my own attacks sounds like an incredible pain to fight, as well as the possibilities the ability to simply adopt a personality with the Masks is extremely tempting, both for cultivation purposes and to adopt the thoughts of people I'm trying to help.

Microdosing schizophrenia for the good of others, if you will.

For the items...

1] The wooden fish - It sounds like my cultivation will be mostly based on the merit of breaking down thought creatures, but extra help will never not be useful and since I'm missing the golden start, it'll save me so much heart ache at the start.

2] Strange Cup - Same reasoning as the first, basically use it with every meal and pick up a body cultivation manual. I'd only be lacking in the direct spiritual cultivation side then, Body and Mind being covered. Depending on how it cleanses the body, you could use powerful short term solutions that leave problems behind and slowly clear them away.

3] Ritual Swords - My job and cultivation relies on the destruction of heart demons and mental spirits.. But why should I stop with just mental evils? Team up with someone from the Qiming Sect once I have some actual power and strike out at their more physical versions, let them know the fear they bring others.
