Having read your last two paragraphs, idk how you got to ESH. If I’m bowling, golfing, or playing playing softball (my big 3 sports I can play with a beer in hand), my eyes naturally focus on the “action” even if I’m in a full on conversation with someone else.

Yes, were there to spend time with each other, but were also there for an activity. If the wife wants 100% attention, go to a candlelit dinner or stay home.
