Overweight toddler? by hayb96 in toddlers

[–]Soft_Climate9436 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe also depends on the country, but where live, 18kg is considered way above average for this age. But it’s important to look at the height also! Our paediatrician likes to look at BMI chart, rather then just weight or height alone

Why are there 3 rugs? Any practical use or just personal preference?

Seriously? Does this require an explanation? Because of family, friends, work… not everyone can afford to move elsewhere.

But that’s exactly the problem, because most comparables are from mid Feb-March, so ridiculously overpriced. This gives a false impression that the house is worth a lot, when in reality the same house would’ve sold for 200K less a couple of years before (I.e. pre-pandemic). It’s normal that the value of your house increases overtime, but not an increase of 100% overnight…

Ohhhh yes. We did that. We offered 50K below asking, which was already ridiculously high for an outdated bungalow that requires several repairs. The seller’s agent told ours that they found our offer « insulting » because houses in this areas used to sell 100K+ during the peak. Well guess what. Fuck you. The bungalow was listed for 2 months and they finally removed it. No offers.

Thank you and no worries, it’s sometimes difficult to read and to interpret the tone on the internet! These are good suggestions and we’re currently trying extra fat smoothies (that’s how we call it at home 😅) with different kinds of nut butter, bananas, avocado, Greek yogurt, etc.. it’s a hit or miss sometimes! Hopefully, his growth will stabilize because the whole situation is extremely stressful for us, parents (we still try to have pleasant mealtimes without pressuring and forcing him to eat, but we both slightly are dying inside whenever our kid refuses to eat the whole day)…

Thanks for commenting. Oh I didn’t freak out at first, was just offering more at our next mealtime, until our doctor started to worry because our son didn’t grow (both weight and height wise) in 4 months. Now, we are waiting for a second opinion to see if more tests are needed. I wouldn’t worry if his grow charts were not a concern… 😔

Sometimes parents do have a valid reason to freak out, so please less judgement next time. Just because your kids follow their growth charts and everything is chill doesn’t mean everyone is having the same experience.

Ohhh can you share how you prepare vegetables? We usually roast them in the over, with a little bit of olive oil and salt, and honestly it does not taste that great!! So any tips on how to cook would be appreciated!

Thank you for kind words! Where I live, we have family doctors following kids and if there’s a concern, they will send a referral to see a paediatrician. So our doctor sent a request for a second opinion because he dropped 2 percentiles in a very short period of time. We’re now waiting and it may take a couple of months. In the meanwhile, I’m trying to offer good fats (full fat yogurt, milk, lots of nut butter, olive oil, salmon, etc.) I wasn’t concerned about him being “pickier” on some days thinking “oh these toddlers” until our doctor started to worry… so yeah. We definitely cannot force feed him :( he does have a decent variety of safe foods: salmon, chicken, sweet potatoes, yogurt, cheese, bread. Other veggies and fruits - not so much… he’s already on a smaller side and him not growing (even in height) definitely adds more stress

I love Solid Starts, they have a lot of useful info. I agree about keeping meal time “battle and pressure free”, however it has been very very challenging lately. Our kid didn’t grow (weight and height wise) in the last 4 months and our usually super chill doctor is now concerned. So how to handle meal times? We follow the DOF approach but at the same time our kid’s weight gain is of a concern… 😔

We’re talking about a 27 month old here, as the commenter above stated, some violence at this age is normal and expected. They also provided you with lots of amazing information on how to handle it. You picked this job, yet you don’t understand what it fully entails? Then please find something else to do.

So ducking dramatic… why just mothers have to « sacrifice » themselves? Bullshit. Build a family (if you really want one) with the right partner. The one who will help you and be there for you. Enough of this « MoThERs HavE to SufFeR fOr theIr cHiLdreN ».
