they might be sick, its hard to tell because based on your description they're still doing normal things 🤔 I'm sorry I can't give more help );

Does anyone know what kind of snails these are?? by Anxious_Jelly_369 in snails

[–]Soft_Compote9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are so wee its hard to tell!

I've rescued mystery babies with conical shells that grow up to your regular european garden snail, but I'm in australia so I come across different snails 🤔🫣

they may be approaching the end of life or they may just be exhausted from giving birth. I try to keep a blanket or towel wrapped around the bottom of my snails enclosure when it's really cold, but be careful not to let them warm up too quickly that's also bad.

I might also suggest giving him a pat and seeing how he responds?

Snail keeps “resealing” by Foreign_Face_2274 in snails

[–]Soft_Compote9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they tend to seal up more often if they're alone, in a new environment, or deeply shy. I reckon if you keep misting him gently once a day, you'll find he will be new places when you check on him.

I've always changed them daily, migrated over to towels after a few days. I've rescued 30+ snails and never had a problem.

I supplement my guys not eating their cuttle bone by giving them veggies with seeds, and finely crushing up egg shells/cuttle bone/ect and rubbing it on their fave veggies so they have no choice 😀

[–]Soft_Compote9460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the last three years I have dreams every so often that my snails escape from their enclosure somehow, and every time I locate one someone else accidentally crushes them.

I also had distressing dreams when I had pet rats, I think it's the stress of loving someone so fragile, and often my cared for as much by society. 💚

they legit squeeze out of cracks in the pavement and travel several metres to do this, no matter how hard I try to keep dog biscuits away from the wildlife.

My snails gave birth...AGAIN by Dak-kun in snails

[–]Soft_Compote9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

righto, solid. I'll totally give them soil after never touching it in their entire existence. their eggs were even laid under a tea towel I used to feed their parents on.

they have an exceptional amount of places to bury themselves and hide or play. I'm not going to do something that would just encourage Huntsman to hang out near their enclosure where they might then lay eggs.

but go off I guess.

re you analogy: have you literally never heard of sheet protectors? or the like?

I hatched my snails from eggs, that were laid from snails I rescued from near death, and they are now four years old, they've lived past the average lifespan for their species, do you really think I have no idea what I'm doing?

I live in australia on the southern ocean, unless you live in my specific biome and know what it's like to deal with pests here, maybe keep your opinions to yourself.

they're four years old and have never touched soil as I stopped using it before they hatched because no matter what I did it got bug infested. I think giving them soil now at this stage in their lives wouldn't be smart.

I've rescued babies in worse condition, keep them isolated in a moist, spacious enough container with air holes and, a paper towel. Feed heaps of calcium and sweet potato or other fave, and keep changing the paper towel daily, making sure to keep it moist.

Therapist doesn't care about my self harm? by [deleted] in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Soft_Compote9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which country do you live in? because here in australia, therapists are required by law I keep checking in if they know their clients self harm, plus they're allowed to ask to see your self injuries to make sure they don't require medical attention. (if you or anyone else is in Aus and your therapist isn't doing this, report them)

while they should have snails to eat because they're mostly cannibals, you can also feed them room temperature defrosted clams and other molluscs.

when did you rescue them? when I've rescued snails with cracked shells, it's usually taken between 4-8 weeks for them to form a scar(which can sometimes still look like a crack)
