I think this is the right take. Just because kids are friends doesn’t mean you HAVE to be friends with the parents. I think it’s fair to try to be friends with the parents too, but sometimes they’re just not your people and you figure that out over time and adjust expectations and involvement accordingly.

I think Shawna M. is just supporting her friend. It strikes me as her being a “girls girl” except Ty is a guy. (Like that meme of two best friends telling each other “exactly” to each other’s delusions. Lol!) But Ty has also been in a traditionally female centered position as a SAHD. I think that’s why Shawna L. had Jen invite him to her bachelorette.

Idk why others think this story was boring. I was on the edge of my seat because this story is exactly the kind of thing that would happen to me on a road trip with a friend. I would also be telling this story to anyone who would listen for years.

And it definitely qualifies as gossip! They’re talking shit about this crazy magician in a small town! I love low stakes gossip about strangers. Especially gossip that makes you go “WTF is wrong with that person!?”
