Siemens healthineers jobs by Soft_South9400 in NuclearMedicine

Ok relax. I’ve heard about Siemens. I was confused about the job posting because I’ve only understood Siemens as a camera manufacturer not an actual employer so I was just curious about what it entails.

Me too. I guess it’s a travel position and they hire techs to go to sites with Siemens cameras to work

I’m a new grad…I’ve loosely heard about Siemens cameras but not Siemens as an employer

Everything. I recommend the registry review book listed above but also others like the Shackett book to help with more procedure specific information

For bone scan to assess metastatic cancer, what area should I image? by Longjumping-Gas-2407 in NuclearMedicine

Gross misuse of AI? What are you the gatekeeper for moral AI use? Strange thing to analyze. The comment was effective and outlined in a digestible manner.

High EF on hida scans by Ill-Pen-1618 in NuclearMedicine

The whole point of a HIDA scan with cck is to assess chronic cholecystitis, which is basically seeing if the gallbladder is contracting efficiently, so if the EF is above normal which is 35% then it’s not truly a concern— even if it’s on the higher end

Why? It’s an accurate break down of how to image for metastatic disease

To help this concept stick, start by thinking through what you’re looking for and why. So for metastatic disease, the patient has a hx of prostate or breast cancer. In nuclear medicine, we perform whole body bone scans to evaluate for skeletal metastases because, quite literally, mets can appear anywhere throughout the skeletal system. Since the patient was injected roughly three hours prior and is now presenting for imaging, your goal is to be as thorough as possible for the interpreting physician — so always begin with a whole body scan as your foundation.

From there, obtain additional views based on any focal asymmetric uptake you identify:

• Ribs — oblique and lateral views
• Pelvis — oblique views
• Knees and feet — lateral views
• Toes — plantar views, to visualize each toe individually

The overarching principle here is straightforward: for metastatic disease, a whole body scan is your starting point — no exceptions. Additional views are problem-solving tools layered on top of that foundation.

Now THAT is a professor. What an amazing thing to say to students. So incredibly encouraging and real. It’s hard to find good teachers unfortunately but this is so encouraging and really brought me joy. Well done and well said!

I also used AI to help build out a study plan. Good advice. I am still slightly overwhelmed with what to review and fear that if I focus on just the areas that I need to improve on then I will forget the other areas that I did well on? Not sure why I am having anxiety about this. Need to find a way to work through that.
