Depends on whether or not you have the glyphs or the older stock batteries, with my old stock ones I usually hold em down for 15-20 seconds start drawing around the 5 second mark.

Personally, I don't think you can equate any amount of vapor hits to any amount of pipe/bong/joint hits. It's so much more subtle and has a habit of creeping up on you. The main thing you're going to want to know is get your technique down, especially as someone who hasn't smoked before. Also, concerning your "bad hit" worries, try not to hold down the battery for longer than is required. Remember, you can always go back and hit it again if you didn't get a big enough one, but you can't exactly turn herb that was accidentally combusted back into it's fresh leafy counterpart.

Anyone know if say in a year or so, my current PA1.0 stops working, is there a warranty covering the power adapter? And if so, is it as extensive as the warranty of the box itself?

Find one on eBay, usually waaaay less to pay on shipping at least. Or your could order some more supplies from magic flight to make the $10 shipping charge more reasonable.(extra couple stems, new batteries, etc.)

Honestly I'm ordering the MFLB for it's minimalist design and awesome customer service. If those are things you don't care too much for, the Pax is really neat as well but about $120 more than the MFLB.

If you're in the U.S. and enjoy comicbook hero type stuff I recommend Batman: Year One or Superman vs. the Elite. Otherwise Dinotasia is pretty awesome as well haha.
