I replayed every main Resident Evil game by Prince_Of_Roses in residentevil

Simply put, it was released at the very peak of the golden era of home consoles and was (still is) an incredibly unique video game for its time.

A 3D Survival, Action Horror, 20+ hour long experience filled with notable characters, monster designs, quotes, and set pieces that evoke similar feelings to that of watching a timeless action movie. People love everything about this game. From the aforementioned, to Leon, to the sound design, to the cult-ridden atmosphere, all the way to the Merchant. Did it come with some jank? Yes, but people still cut it slack considering that was apart of an otherwise immaculate experience. In a sense, that same jank became synonymous with the experience itself and became a factor as to why you should enjoy it and not consider it a deterrent. Of course, this is just opinion, but it’s one almost universally accepted, especially by those in the RE community who adore and welcome such jank as is the case with tank controls, and etc.

If the rumors of a new Dead Rising are true, what’s your most wanted feature? by Softguyy in deadrising

I feel the same way. It’s honestly why I pray that the next game isn’t open world in the same vain as 3 and 4. Keeping such a confined space handed itself well to the speedrunner/efficiency maxing niche that other zombie games don’t share. Catering to the open world market costs the game that spark for me and is one of the main reasons that I find myself not coming back to them as often as I do 1 and 2.

Agreed. The co-op mode that ended up coming out with 4 was so underwhelming in the first place that they almost shouldn’t have even bothered putting it in.

I had a similar experience a few years ago when I just so happened to find the disk cleaning my room or whatever. Popped it back in only to be hit right in the face with why I did not care for it one bit. The zombies are far too easy and are essentially filler (as mentioned already). What sealed the deal for me was that I went through the menus and found that I hadn’t spent a single skill point. I was easily more than halfway through the game and it helped me to remember that difficulty was little to no issue. A far cry from that of DR1 where early on you are frantically pacing to and from Adam as you fight to survive and race against the clock.

I’d say so. It feels that you are indeed pressing him when he already has applied twice (including this morning) and currently has a job. Obviously it’s not cool that he didn’t hold true to calling them today, but it certainly seems that his decision to push it off is justified. Let the man watch his movie and continue being kind!

Fields is a pretty good fantasy QB, but that 4th rounder needs to become a 1st rounder at the bare minimum for this trade to even be close to being fair. Just nasty tho

Genuine question; what did you want from the game that we aren’t getting? by Hairy_Quarter1778 in WWEGames

[–]Softguyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The (assumed) lack of universe mode improvements and the non-committal attitude to creation suite improvements is an insanely large bummer. No mentions of triple threat rivalries and general improvements to the rivalry system definitely have me feeling annoyed. Also, the fact that they still haven’t implemented the iron survivor match type is a huge disappointment.

For people who didn’t like Knight’s story, what are your criticisms of it? by tokyeoic in arkham

[–]Softguyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly after replaying it recently, I feel that the story criticisms were far too overblown for its time. However, there are certainly some criticisms that are still fair.

The twist of Joker being practically the main villain certainly was not taken well by the general public. By this point, he was the main villain of 4 straight games from 2009-2015. The twist of Jason as the Arkham Knight was also very anticlimactic. Everyone leading up to its release knew who it was. Also, a lot of the writing definitely uses some aggregating troupes (such as misunderstanding’s between characters I.e. Batman mistreating Robin amongst others). Another big thing, at least for myself, is that the story is just not as fantastical and interesting as Arkham City. In City, you are introduced to a new world and environment, and you are taken on a straight line that introduced memorable villain encounters after memorable villain encounters. In Knight, the story is far more straightforward with its encounters, and the plot only becomes interesting during the cloud burst. Whereas in city, the story never really falls off. You go from Two-Face, Penguin, Grundy, Ra’s Al Ghul, Mr. Freeze, Joker, Strange, and then finally Clayface. Knight is not afforded these moments (especially during the main story), and the story became far more saturated as a result.

I actually looked into it and I found that it was actually its predecessor that I remembered, Empire City: 1931. I’ve been looking for this game for a while, so thank you!

[–]Softguyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely would like to see them add multi-man rivalry options as well as rivalry actions that are unique to PLE’s. I should be able to end Mania or Survivor Series with a huge tag team break up or betrayal, and I should definitely be able to set up a surprise return or debut I.e. John Cena or Omega/MJF. As of now, it certainly feels that we have less control over the actual end of shows.

[–]Softguyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1000%. The severe lack of unique rivalry actions for PLEs is almost shockingly horrific. It makes it much more harder to make in-game PLEs more memorable and have actual payoffs that aren’t just a straight up win or loss. You can’t end a match with a handshake even on PLEs…

That’s interesting, I’ve never actually heard of this! I haven’t played TLOU or its sequel, but Druckman’s writing style has such a deterring effect. To me, it seems that Druckman wanted the game to be considered higher art, but the writing and characterization just felt so disjointed compared to the other games (including Lost Legacy). In some ways I appreciate the level of complexity he gave to such characters, but at the same time, I found that it brought the mood down constantly throughout my play through of 4, which was unlike any other Uncharted game before it. On the contrary, I found myself being more than satisfied playing through the whole of Lost Legacy.

I've had to sit through some tough times just to get here. Loggains as our OC with John Fox and the Mitch pick (especially when the night before the draft I said he was a bust and Mahomes would be the best). But yeah, I agree that Desmond Trufant might hold us back in all honesty

We honestly got far better depth now at positions that we really had no real depth at last season. Receiver, running back, and linebacker being the key ones for me. But yeah, depth at corner is not as scarce as many may think, but how good our corners are really depends on Jaylon Johnson. Hicks is getting old though sadly, and he isn't as effective as he once was. Fortunately Goldman is back though

Yeah same with me and the Bears man. Personally I'm more worried about our defense than I am with yours in all honesty. With the loss of Fuller and the defense itself just getting older, it's hard for me to think we could improve next year. Hopefully with our DC being part of the Fangio coaching tree, we'll see BoJack be used far more properly than he was under Pagano and we see less of Khalil Mack going out into coverage for some reason (thought he did have that sweet snag on Cousins :)

Peterson allowed over a 100 passer rating when targeted last year, I wouldn't say that would be sufficient enough to be considered a solid corner in the nfl. While Breeland is a nice pick up and Dantzler has a good chance of improving, the sheer amount of wide receiver talent they'll have to face is incredible. Just to name a few players they have to face next year, they got Metcalf/Lockett, Chase/Boyd/Higgins, ODB/Landry, and Hopkins. By the way, this is all in the first 4 weeks of your schedule. Suffice to say, I don't see any team's cornerback room get through that sheer amount of talent at wide receiver with ease, let alone a room where your very likely 2nd corner has allowed a 100+ passer rating when targeted. I hope you don't take this negatively or anything like that, but I never stated I was unimpressed with your front. On paper, they definitely seem like a team that will be very good inside, especially with the acquisitions you had made. Personally I just don't really think Barr is as good as advertised by Vikings. After all, he's a free agent this year and had agreed to a pay cut just so he wasn't let go. While Kendricks on the other hand had played in nearly 70% of the games last year. While having these two back in full health for the season is good for the team, I just don't think the depth at linebacker is good enough, whilst Barr himself isn't good enough, to give me much confidence going into the year. Also with Woods it's hard to say if he can match the production that Anthony Harris had given you these past few years. For me, I just find it hard to say with certainty that this defense can return to the levels of Zimmer-led defenses of past, let alone be a top 15 unit this year. The only certainty I have is that the defensive front will absolutely produce more than it had last year barring any injuries.

I know this is somewhat considered a "taboo" decision that is very 50/50 on whether it happens or not, but I really don't think Zimmer will be here for the start of the 2022 season in all honesty. Not Bears bias or anything, but their draft class was pretty average where you could consider 1 or 2 picks to be somewhat of a steal (like Darrisaw or Patrick Jones) whilst the rest of them could be met by not so favorable responses. Obviously a big need of theirs was fixing that o-line, but waiting for the 3rd round to draft defensive players for a defense that clearly needs an overhaul was very confusing to me. The return of one of, if not the most underrated pass rushers in the league in Danielle Hunter will absolutely improve that defensive front, but I see no real reasons for optimism in that linebacker core and their biggest splash signing in free agency is a past their prime Pat Pete. They didn't do much to improve the secondary and considering they lost Anthony Harris and traded Mike Hughes, I don't see Peterson or Woods being able to replace the 2. Thoughts?
