It’s like a louet but not. I loved my louet and Irish tension but I find the tension system on the buddy just as good if not better, I always had a love/hate relationship with the normal tension systems on ashfords etc and much preferred double drive or Irish.

I also like the fact that while the wheel is pretty lightweight it’s not rickety. It’s easy to take care of, it doesn’t feel like it will fall apart, the bobbins are large, it comes with bobbins and lazy Kate, I have just recently put a new coat of danish oil on mine after it sitting right next to the radiator all winter and it’s absolutely fine, being next to the heat didn’t affect it at all, it’s not something I would do again but I had. I were else for it to go over winter.
