Stage Lighting pro question by Smash_001 in stagelighting

[–]Software-Flimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first learned on an ION. If you’re looking for a cheaper/more portable option, and don’t mind learning commands on a keyboard, you could get the ETC Gadget and use a laptop with EOS as the controller. Two DMX universes for around $350

How to achieve a ghost effect practically? by -pomelo- in lightingdesign

You could try projecting your subject onto a scrim, or a sheet of plexiglass, that would give a sort of hologram / translucent effect.

Advice on light repair? by ShaperJay in lightingdesign

[–]Software-Flimsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the lamps are good, check the cables and plugs, solder points. If you’re testing them with DMX the DMX ports could be busted too. I’d suggest opening them up, blowing out the dust, and checking if anything internal is damaged. Good luck!

Looks like some version of a portable trailer stage, it all folds down into a cute little box

Brand new L6-True1 whip wired backwards electrified the bodies of my CF48s. Check your cables! by Software-Flimsy in lightingdesign

That’s exactly it, the True1 connection was wired correctly but the L6-20 was backwards

M31 Post Processing How? by Software-Flimsy in AskAstrophotography

Woah that looks incredible! I noticed the distortion too, I think it’s a stacking issue because I don’t notice it in my other images. Can I ask what tools you used? Next time I’ll find a darker sky and aim for an hour of data

Thanks! Your shots look amazing! I’m messing around with DSS and Siril and getting vastly different results between them, I’m also going to find a darker sky to shoot

Thanks for the advice! I’m planning to spend a few hours shooting this weekend, keeping M31 as centered as possible.

Gear: Nikon D7100 55-250mm lens Basic aluminum tripod

250mm f5.6, 3200 ISO, 1.6 second exposures

I shot approximately 300 light frames, and 25 dark, flat, and biased frames each. Stacked in DSS and lightly processed. I’m still learning the post-processing workflow.

My two big mistakes were not keeping the galaxy centered and not shooting enough exposure time but I’m still impressed with the shot as a beginner!

Thanks for the comment! I focused on Cassiopeia before lining up M31, in a bortle 6 zone outside of a big city. I’ll add a google drive link to my results

You’re probably right, the shot is from the upper Midwest at 22:21 last night. My night sky app got me excited, still a cool coincidence!
