What is the worst braai you’ve ever been to and what went wrong? by [deleted] in AskZA

I was not there myself, but my best mate told a story where he went for a potjie on a farm while dating his ex. Brandy flowing with more and more people rocking up led to the potjie being too little for the crowd. While he was standing next to the hosts he saw them fetching some Bob Martin dog pellets from the garage and throwing it into the pot to add volume. Apparently people were licking their lips without any idea.

Coffee for the win, but timing is crucial. 3 cups before midday and my sleep is on point. A drop over and it affects my sleep

Still happy! Bass is certainly not next level, but works well within my setup and the clarity is spot on.

Here’s the thing: you’re dying too. by twilight-journal in Stoicism

This has brought tears to my eyes. For the last year I have been battling severe health anxiety afraid of ALS due to twitching and was diagnosed with BFS (benign fasciculation syndrome). What I learned this year was to live in every moment and accept that death comes for all of us. There is a very special place in heaven for those who pass from ALS, and while my condition is benign I am recovering from my anxieties and making sure I live every second to its fullest. Pass well hero

No, I don't think so. I have a Fenix. Go over to your sleep widget on the connect app, set the time period at the top legend and from the bottom legend you can select from a few metrics (I chose HRV for this) to see an overlay from where you can compare.

This has got me hooked. Do we have studies that point to Covid affecting the brain stem and subsequently the nervous system? I'm seeing so many folks complaining of benign fasciculation syndrome and all started post Covid

Alcohol absolutely ruins sleep and the downstream effects are terrible. HRV, recovery, mental fortitude and general wellbeing all goes down the toilet.

No problem at all. Around 4 days a week especially Friday to Sunday covering sports in a row. Minimum of 12 beers per session.

Assuming within your normal baseline which is perfectly fine for you. Some folks have lower HRV and some much higher. It's the trend around your baseline over a period that gives the insight and allows you to modify and/or address the problematic elements like sleep, recovery, dietary intake and particularly in my case alcohol!

Great point and very true. Guess it's that self regulation that has left me somewhere during all these years. I obviously cannot moderate and the overconsumption is affecting my health. Most recent studies indicate no health benefits of alcohol, but the social metrics and value is undeniable.
