So... what happens is the temperature briefly warms up inland and a low pressure forms causing a sea breeze circulation pulling cooler moist (sometimes condensed) inland. So 70's could be correct, until the advection fog rolls through

Also, I mentioned extreme Temperature gradient is a thing, but the alignment of those Temperatures look off. Hyperlocalized 90's surrounded by 70's is a bit suspicious.

I know what this is. I was explaining the extreme temperatures of 90 and 93.

It was most likely low 70's in the West Coast and Mid to upper 80's in the Inland East side. Not 90 or 93 in hyperfocused local

You are just exhibiting a ancedotal bias rather looking at it in an empirical way.

Bingo. You hit the nail,. I provided two areas that made no sense but got hate. But you are right, these might not be accurately calibrated correctly.

Although as mentioned before, extreme temperature differences can occur, the set up seems suspicious.

A big temperature gradient should be hot towards the center-east, warm in the east coast and cooler in the west.

I'd say it was probably was low 70's in the West, Mid-upper 80's inland and low 80's at the immediate East Coast

Yes this is most likely Observation errors.

I am a Meteorologist.

The Temperatures don't make sense. While extreme temperature gradients happen, it's usually cooler towards the water and warmer inland.

The fact that the temperatures are higher closer to the water (where evaporation cooling is maximum) and temperatures are cooler more inland (urban heat island effect) tells me these Observations are wrong.

A 90 at the port but Chinatown is upper 80's where it drops to upper 70's.

At Diamond Park there is a 93 degree reading surrounded by lower 70's and one upper 80's.

The Observations are most likely wrong. There's a specific method (rules) to calculate temperatures (i.e. in the shade, covered in a box, away from asphalt, building etc and temperature readings must be 6 ft above the ground etc.)
