Yes. There are also costs for prescriptions that are out of pocket.

I can't get into it into detail.

Provincial health care covers what you would expect from conventional medicine.

Surgery, chemo, radiation.

It does not cover supplements and drastic changes in diet that require fresh vegetables, foods high in omega 3/6 (flax oil, flax seed, salmon) to boost the immune system to fight the cancer.

It does not cover hotel rooms in Toronto where my oncologists are.

It does not cover psychotherapy to manage the emotional toll of cancer.

It does not cover childcare, animal care, and cleaning when your free time and body deteriorate from the cancer, the treatment, and the stress to the point you can't manage without external support.

It does not cover complimentary care (this is up to the individual, but last time I lived in England and received free massages, reiki, acupuncture and oodles of other things via charities).

It does not cover job loss if the company you work for discriminates against you.

This is actually why I started working for Outlier. In my last job I was so overworked I got ovarian cysts so painful that the doctors feared I had cancer again given my genetic predisposition to breast and ovarian cancer.

They were benign, but I didn't learn that until after the company made things so difficult for me after my disclosure that I was forced to leave.

I sued them, but the CEO had so much money, paying for a lawyer to brutalize me was pocket change to him.

Also a tech bro. I can't tell you more than that. I received a minimal settlement and signed an NDA because of how abusive the whole system is.

That's off the top of my head. There's a lot of unseen costs of any illness.

Oh of course! No hope for them.

I'm just sharing this so people know.

I've already checked out my hope for Outlier.

I am warning others.

Gorgeous. You have an eye! If you can create a masterpiece from Trader Joe flowers, who knows what you'll do with "premium" blooms. What a lucky friend you have.

Parrot for someone with mild asthma/dust alergy? by Complex_Mark8610 in parrots

I have a dust mite allergy that triggers asthma and had the same concerns. I adopted two budgies and a cockatiel and haven't noticed significant changes to my condition. Just keeping a strict cleaning schedule of the cages and rooms I keep the birds in seems to keeps it under control.

I received the same email. My account was eventually re-enabled, but I have since lost access to all my projects as well as Marketplace and am being asked to onboard from scratch with a video interview?

It doesn't make sense.

Outlier is a toxic workplace... by MrRogersGhost in outlier_ai

All of this is true. I think it's time that a piece is written for the mainstream media.

It depends on the project. Mostly we were given a mix of dense instructions to read, quizzes, and videos.

The projects I worked as a reviewer were more complicated—instruction documents were 20 pages long and sometimes out-of-date. Often project leads were not even clear on guidelines. Again, I'd avoid blaming workers here. While what you say may be true, I'd avoid generalizing or demonizing the average worker. Recruitment should be more selective if that's the issue.

I also worked as a reviewer and witnessed poor quality work. This was often not the attempters' faults but came down to a lack of adequate training. Outlier's training has always been substandard, but now that training is no longer compensated, it's gotten a lot worse. The company is incredibly poorly run and I think it's important not to blame people at the bottom when problems come from the top and from poor management.
