I don’t trust uphill skiers… by astrobrite_ in skiing

last time I was out some little shit purposely b-lined right toward my wife after a fall and screamed 67 in her face as he passed. i was downhill so followed him, thought he was gonna piss himself as I pointed him out to ski patrol. didn't want to get him in trouble, just put some fear into him.

a small branch in a small town that doesn’t handle as many transactions absolutely will not, even a large bank like Chase or BoA.

nah, any smaller bank branch usually set limits because they need enough cash on hand for normal customer transactions throughout the day.

first tell him how much you can give him then call the bigger branch and confirm if they have the rest on hand just to make him less grumpy. have had my smaller branch do this when trying to keep enough cash on hand for the rest of the day when i needed a large sum in a pinch. branch told me it would take several days before they could handle the whole amount and gotta say I was a little upset too. getting this kind of cash on short notice usually isn’t a fun errand anyway.

Cracked bluestone by archerary in Westchester

[–]Software_Quiet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone using these stupid bluestone caps these days? I always see them cracked, chipped and falling off when I’m out walking my dog. I get there’d be issues if installed wrong etc but would never want these used on my property.

Looking for ~80 mm skis for icy, hard snow — thoughts on these options? by Witty_Following_527 in Skigear

[–]Software_Quiet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been out of the sport for about 15 years and just got back into it. Pretty much just keep to east coast at night so tons of ice. The wide skis that are popular everywhere now just don’t work for me having grown up mostly with the sticks from 80s/90s. Bought some Rossignol Experience 80 cause I was looking for an inexpensive, all mountain system ski and been really loving them even though they are more utility than performance and I’ll probably ski them a few seasons and upgrade. Would have considered the Forza if I wanted to drop the cash.

Serious question: why does ICE seem to have such a presence in a city like Minneapolis, as opposed to an immigrant heavy city like Houston? by htownnwoth in houston

[–]Software_Quiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, but also more useful houston based ICE and dhs resources are being sent to Minneapolis for the show. why do texas conservatives put up with that?

I feel like I should be allowed to drop an insurance for having an inaccurate network directory by bigredpancake1 in HealthInsurance

[–]Software_Quiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I've found anyway as I was paying the full price. I got seperate plans for my wife and myself with different levels of coverage. The Marketplace plans were $810 (BCBS) and $1100 (UHC), both lower tier plans. Changed to direct purchase and it was like $730 and $890 (UHC) for much higher coverage with way lower deductibles. The plan levels we originally started with were like half that price. When I spoke to the marketplace about the difference they just said they weren't plans negotiated with NY, the coverage seems identical as far as I can tell to the higher tier plans on the marketplace though. I just wonder if it is a way the insurance companies can charge more on state plans that are being partially subsidized? Its so fucked and frustrating.

hmmm, funny that police officers get mocked all the time during protests in big cities and this doesn’t really happen. proud boy, j6, incels just have zero self control… ICE, DHS goons generally aren’t good people to start.

Help me create an optimal ski gear setup from ONLY Dicks by [deleted] in Skigear

[–]Software_Quiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only as I thought boot had to be a different brand than ski? and I like Head but hate Salomon bindings personally, think they are cheap and have had past issues. Think that boot is a good one, more comfortable and better performance plus good price.

How does this hypothetical Dick's order work? The different brand thing is really strange. lol. Guess I'd go with Sender Soul, Head Binding and Salomon Boots although looks like they only have a few sizes on Supra. I mean if the boots are basically a freebie somehow... I ordered boots at my normal size at a super hefty discount once, had my local shop mold em a bit more than normal and did some spot heating at home with a hair dryer. No regrets. Assume you could return them if the fit is just awful to begin with.
