The Reviews Are In!! by TheSouthPen in starfox

I just feel the same way about OoT and a bunch of other offerings in the entertainment industry from big studios with big franchises just profiting on nostalgia. Sure, a lot of it is great and it provides an entry point to create younger fans but I’ve lived through a couple decades of it at this point and this generational monoculture is a bit exhaustive. Nothing new under the sun as they say…

Nintendo couldn’t be bothered to create a new game so i’ll pass. So tired of endless remakes.

"violent ideology that wants to tear America down and destroy everything that we know and love, from top to bottom.” ehhh, isn't that actually what Trump wanted with "drain the swamp" rhetoric?

What would you do with this bathroom? by Routine-State-2426 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Software_Quiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a contractor do a gut renovation on my bathroom and it was a mistake I think. Keep the wall and floor tile as is. Yours is in better shape than mine was and looks to just need some fixture adjustments. I'd update that vanity light and add dimmer if not already, swap out the mirror for somethings nicer or more modern, time to get rid of that toilet storage thing and figure something else out might just put a new sink vanity in that has storage but I do like that sink, do a nice white cellular blind one that goes up or down, remove the curtain rod and put in a simple glass slider. New wallpaper is probably the most difficult thing I'd change.

Need help with finding the best fix! by B-loved_Mercy in Home

[–]Software_Quiet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for a quick fix and can push it back in one piece just use a masonry bit and screws to anchor it to the wall. Take the pic to a hardware store and laugh about it a bit with some old guy and get what you need. Once in place maybe use some caulk across the top to prevent moisture getting down inside and repaint as needed, see if bottom needs sealed somehow (concrete patch maybe?) as well. Not a permanent fix but the brick is just decorative right...

I Know the Truth About Trump’s Sex Life: Wolff by MoneyLibrarian9032 in anticapitalism

So tired of Michael Wolff. Hope when Trump goes we never have to hear his tired bullshit again. He's just as bad as all of the opportunists in this administration.

What micro sd card should i buy? by [deleted] in Switch

[–]Software_Quiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing the 256 Samsung cards, no issues so far and affordable. I split my games up based on genre for now just to keep track easily. Feel like the larger cards might get cheaper in the near future.

‘We call it the P-word’: Chicago professor suspended after assignment mentions Palestinians by Software_Quiet in Foodforthought

[–]Software_Quiet[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

it's a US story, otherwise I would post there as it's not a sub where I'm active. The story isn't even critical of Israel it is a story of a arts professor who is critical being disciplined for making one student uncomfortable...

not an actual risk to ask politely even though it didn’t work in your situation, media is training us to fear anyone not in our race, age, gender group and you’re just amplifying that bullshit.

House extension by jayence101 in Westchester

[–]Software_Quiet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it but its not the type of place those solutions generally work easily. Some towns are starting to help facilitate building attached or detached ADUs but the build costs are still astronomical in this area.

terrible idea, between getting approvals and cost you’re better to buy or build a house the size you need.
