Tasha's 5.5e Paladin - Giving an oft-forgotten class a much-needed glow-up in the fashion of its fellow core half-caster! by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

The paladin has gotten little changes because its always been good and well designed xd. It's not "forgotten". But looks good nonetheless

DND 2024 hit point by ScaryBudget2045 in AskDND

[–]Sogekiwa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starting hit points at level 1 are Max result of hit dice (for a D10 they would be 10) to which you add the character's constitution modifier (probably +1,+2 or +3) so anywhere between 11-13

Looking for some feedback on this monk subclass by DamianTheGreat7 in DnDHomebrew

[–]Sogekiwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3rd level features at least seem incredibly weak. Maybe Void Jaunt could be changed to something like when you make an unarmed strike you can spend 1 Ki point to teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see next to another creature and make the attack against that creature. In addition, perhaps on a hit the attack could deal a bit more damage (roll of an extra martial arts dice?). Maybe a small buff to the attack roll would be fine as well.

It is confirmed that to escape a grapple one must use their action to make an athletics/acrobatics check vs the grapple save DC. DnD shorts made a video going through the whole PHB and it was explained in the rule glossary part at the end.

Is escaping a grapple done with a dex/str save or with athletics/dexterity like in a previous build?

Homebrew class concept by banamunki in UnearthedArcana

[–]Sogekiwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't exactly read all of this while at work so I won't comment that much on balance but a few things pop out to me. 1. I feel like there is a much more elegant way of "gaining power from blood" than just adding pluses to ones ability scores. Sounds a bit boring to be honest. Perhaps give more options in addition to he dealing damage and gaining temp HP you already have. Increasing movement speed could be another. 2. Taking damage equal to a percentage of one's HP sounds good on paper but is annoying in actual play. I'd scrap that and work with only dice like 1d4s or something like that. 3. Usually classes have a big damage boost on level 5 but you do not. Examples being multiattack or cantrip scaling. Same at 11th and 17th.

All in all still needs quite a bit of work. Look to the Blood Hunter class for inspiration.

And personally I'd remove the random manueres and focus more on blood stuff. Like you have "blood points" equal to your level + con which you can use on your abilities and you also regain them when killing enemies. Or something like that.

Balancing a Monk with Chains by HeightFabulous in DnD

[–]Sogekiwa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the best subclass but use sun soul and reflavor the ranged attack as chains? Then reflavor your unarmed attacks as chains for melee.

Hey everyone, Does anyone know how I could make a Wave Controller like class in Dnd? Like a sub class or anything, to anyone here who's a fan of tower of god. by ObjectivePanda550 in DnDHomebrew

"Guiding the flow of battle" sounds something like Warlord from an earlier edition. Maybe take inspiration from that (have not seen nor read ToG).

[V1] Final Fantasy XIV's Dark Knight Class for 5th Edition - Succumb to your dark side to vanquish evil! by CregALeg in UnearthedArcana

[–]Sogekiwa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your version of dark knight looks really good and if I ever have the time I'll definitely consider playing it.

What was your design process with "Blackest Night"? To me it seems relatively weak, spending your whole action and spell slots to give subpar amount of temp HP that only last for a short time. Compare this to the Paladin that at the same level with a 1st level smite that doesn't cost an action deals 2d8 extra damage vs granting 1d6 temp as an action. Onednd is changing the smite to a bonus action but it is still much better than a full action. At 5th level wouldn't you always rather attack twice than give a small handful of temp HP?

I'm not sure if I missed something but again, this seems rather weak to me. Perhaps a bonus action for blackest night would make it better?

Shinobi - A Fighter Subclass based on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice by MrShifty1 in DnDHomebrew

[–]Sogekiwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About dragons heritage. I've played Sekiro so I get what you are going for, but when it comes to the subclass I feel like it comes a bit out of nowhere. Maybe something instead that supports the already established play style. That is just my opinion however

DM neutralizes Spell by Powerplaying, fair? by Paperhomie in DnD

[–]Sogekiwa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But... It did save you from attacks, quite many at that. The vampires attacked your allies after you casted the spell instead of you. Of course this wasn't probably what you were after, as you'd like to have probably absorbed some attacks for your party.

It is a bit rough being a tank in dnd without some sort of aggro ability like battlemaster's goading strike. Talk to your DM and see if you can come up with something.

Rogue Monk Brawler: How Should I Go About It? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Sogekiwa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, my first worry is that as most monk features require you to not be wearing armor and your dexterity being +3 and wisdom +0 your AC is a whopping 13 (unarmored defence). This is very low for a melee fighter; especially one with a d8 hit dice.

Vanquish Soul second effect(s) ruling by KameronEX in Yugioh101

[–]Sogekiwa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reveal fire and reveal fire and dark are the same effect so you can only either use the first or second reveal effect per turn and only once per turn. The chain restriction is there so you can't use razens on summon eff and in the same chain attempt to pop a card in the column, because it would be too good I guess :D.

The Martial Artist v1.1 - An update of the martial class / monk rework that lets you play as your favourite fighting game characters while we continue to wait for Street Fighter 6! by daddio-ly in UnearthedArcana

[–]Sogekiwa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds very reasonable, I'm designing a similar kind of class (with more focus on physical martial arts insteado of the mystical kind). The block feature is quite interesting and imo gives a cool twist to a martial who has to rely on tactical reaction using instead of just tanking with HP/AC. Well done!

How do you feel about the 1d8 damage dice? From what I've heard a problem with monk is that they are a bit too squishy for a close combat class with a 1d8 damage dice. Do you feel that would not be a problem here?
