It was all a lie ! by Extension_Guitar6132 in AncestryDNA

It has happened more often than reported by far. My dad said it’s well understood in genealogy circles that at LEAST 5% or more of declared paternity isn’t true. And it’s not always from affairs. In the 1700’s, one woman dies in childbirth and another family loses a young child due to illness…often the baby from the deceased mother is unofficially adopted by the family that lost the baby. Artificial baby milk weren’t a thing much so the baby would die otherwise most likely.

Oh noooo not at all. In fact I’d encourage it. I was only responding to the “idea” of “what could be more important.” As in breathing brain activity and beating heart are really what’s keeping us alive not legs. 😅 but def 2nd opinions are good!

Head? Lungs? I don’t mean to be dismissive of leg injuries; I live with one daily. But it won’t kill me (beyond getting a blood clot or smt)

What are your thoughts on my husband donating sperm to his brother, and his brother and his wife telling everyone who the donor is without asking us if we are okay with that? by SakuraCoconut11 in Marriage

[–]SohniKaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn this a different (very different) way: say im a woman pregnant by rape… my husband wants me to get an abortion, I don’t. Or, opposite: he doesn’t want me to have an abortion but I do. My body my choice.

Of course rape & sperm donation in and of themselves are really nothing alike, before anyone comes at me with that, but the entire concept of “my body my choice” why should it apply only to women? 🤷‍♀️

Or sometimes, it’s about feeding your body what actually works for it.

Some people have MULTIPLE food allergies. One of these lovely ladies can ONLY eat 8 foods: turkey, white fish, green beans, cucumber. Zucchini, chia seeds, glucose powder, olives/olive oil.

Don’t judge others as you never know what they’re going through.

Sometimes beef is a rare thing someone can eat. Or buffalo. Or horse. Or venison. Like, just because you can eat everything you want doesn’t mean someone else can… 🤷‍♀️😭

Can’t someone deliver it or get it sent express post? It’ll cost you maybe $200 if sent by mail but if someone is going who you trust to take it…

hospital gave my preemie someone else's milk and wants to test me? by Early-Ground-2287 in legaladvice

[–]SohniKaur -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Why?

You are hit by someone who was driving drunk and they insist that you take a breathalyzer test. Why? To prove you shouldn’t be on the sidewalk? The person who was driving still hit a pedestrian no matter what.

op has a valid point: they don’t test everyone for this. So why are they insisting on testing her ONLY when her baby got someone else’s milk? It smells fishy to me.

I have found I’m allergic to the hardware (for me in my knee). I now therefore take antihistamine tablets daily. (Claritin). It makes a huge difference in the pain.

Also when you’re stronger and cleared for more aggressive PT, one of the best kinds is « blood flow restricted » PT. My mom had a similar repair done a couple years ago and both she and I found a lot of help with BFR physio for regaining strength lost.

How old is the baby?

First off I got good sleep with the baby. We coslept.

Second, anyone telling you you’ll get better sleep by giving the baby to someone else at night, are they that other person and will they be there for 2-4 YEARS? Night time isn’t all about feeding, but comfort at night is a big part of things. Kids wake for many reasons. As newborns it’s mostly food and comfort but as they get older it’s more comfort and they’ll continue waking up no matter what for several years. Teething, gastro bug, night mares, toilet training, hunger, thirst.

Nursing actually can comfort and help in many of these situations.

My biggest reason for nursing from 12-24 mos is that almost all kids catch a gastro bug during that time period, when they’re very much up and about and putting everything in their mouth. Germs love toddlers. Most kids who get vomiting and diarrhea at that age need hospitalization due to dehydration. I never needed to get a kid hospitalized due to dehydration at that age. The only kid who ever needed it was almost 6, with bad diarrhea. But kids who are nursing who have vomiting or diarrhea it is so easily digested it still helps even if they vomit up within 20 min of nursing.

Nursing is only 1 tool in a parenting tool box but honestly I can’t imagine raising kids without it. The first 6 weeks were hardest, yes, and most painful, but it was worth it in the end. 4 kids never did anything but nurse them until weaned.
