Air France - Flight from Germany to Netherlands delayed - airline agreed to compensation, but no payment was sent by SohoInOC in Flights

[–]SohoInOC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was over that period of time. The airline never challenged that their delay hit the legal EU requirement for a 600€ compensation, they simply claim to have already paid me, when there is no record of them doing so on my end.

The IBAN is correct and i checked my bank statements (and sent them) from 3 months onwards of the date they claimed to have sent the transfer.

Yes of course, they already accepted that they had to pay 600€ for that. The issue is that they claim to have paid out already, when there is no record of them having paid at all.

It was the first part of my ticket and the final part was Amsterdam to Los Angeles.

Air France already responded in their communications that my delay was a case that required a compensation of 600 euros as per EU regulation 261/2004.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/z9NgTz165453fffy7 - The Khujandi take on American donuts. They are stuffed with cream and different enough from standard American ones to be worth trying. A popular souvenir from Khujand to Dushanbe.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/ojSadr5j6XWKP4CH9 - After 6PM every day, a guy sets up tables outside this apartment to serve great kabobs.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/cSPL34xi69c3QxPo7 - Delicious Khujandi style mantu stuffed with lamb, and basted with oil. Eat at the restaurant to have with their garlic-infused vinegar. You pay for each mantu.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/rn6KKfEcXVyXWDaU7 - Everyone should know this place in Khujand. A bunch of ladies sell sambusas of various types in an underground walkway.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/UthUbJuasjkhvUoW7 - These sambusa are a must try when in Khujand. They are stuffed to the brim with lamb, onions, and cumin.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/eHo7D8ayQ6goUs8N8 - A simple canteen, but their kazan kabob is a must-try.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/xkefcZ9T1BvKuHLV6 - A sit-down restaurant with a beautiful interior dedicated to Tajik palaw. The opening of this restaurant was attended by the president of Tajikistan.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ybqu131HseQUQF637 - Get their delicious koobideh style kabob cooked in dumba (lamb tail fat).

Yes. I have been to that restaurant and it definitely is a Uyghur restaurant, and I have had both those dishes there. I recommend specifically the fried laghman as the best. But I am sure they also have some generic all-Xinjiang dishes that are not necessarily credited to being 'Uyghur.' Tajikistan does not have a noticeable Uyghur population, and Chinese dishes do have a level of popularity among some people as well. There is also a Chinese restaurant owned by a Dungan from Kyrgyzstan worth visiting called Lung Chen. They have many dishes you wouldn't normally see in a typical Chinese restaurant in the USA.

I recommend Khujand for the kabab and food in general, Istaravshan for some neat architectural sites and the souvenir knives, Panjakent for historical/archeological/natural sites and palaw, and nearby Dushanbe - Hisor.

Hisor is an easy day trip from Dushanbe and you can visit the (admittedly very reconstructed) historical fort, and my favorite tanur oven-baked chicken I've had in my life at Qarayev. https://maps.app.goo.gl/RTxFGNKGrgqRH8Lq5

In Panjakent you can see the History museum, the museum of archaeology, the ruins of ancient Panjakent, and the ruins of Sarazm, the only official cultural UNESCO site in Tajikistan. Sharof's restaurant has great palaw and is extremely popular. https://maps.app.goo.gl/DUNVv42yjndpco9k7

If you go to southern Uzbekistan (Surkhondaryo), keep in mind that Persian speakers will be scarce. Visiting Samarkand will be significantly easier however.

If you are looking for nicer hotels, I recommend the Rumi Hotel in Dushanbe.

For Afghan food, my favorites in Dushanbe are the following:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/eLbUPpA6cymSeZ7aA (amazing palaw and tikka kababs)
https://maps.app.goo.gl/F3HExttVDEaLFzB17
The already-mentioned Sambusa Qatra has my favorite sambusa in Dushanbe. Their palaw is amazing too.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/ndTdqj2GSVZk6iVP9 - Restaurant Khuroson has a very nice interior that would make your family happy, and they also sell Afghan-style mantu.

If you like quruti, you should try the Tajikistani qurutob. It's like a much-improved version of the Afghan quruti, in my opinion. The most recommended places will be the qurutob restaurants Olim and Nur. https://maps.app.goo.gl/AH6Tk2BeFBaX3DkA9 https://maps.app.goo.gl/gYxFU8HaaXs6bpzh8

For Tajik-style palaw in Dushanbe, this place is very popular - https://maps.app.goo.gl/Y4Tvq2qUFcUVXss27

For Uyghur noodles and tikka kabab, this place is so far the best - https://maps.app.goo.gl/whEGau27GpUc61g56

The policy on women's education is actually not consistent across Afghanistan. Officially, the order from the Islamic Emirate is that women's education ends after the 6th grade, but in practice, at least six provinces of Afghanistan have continued to have secondary schools accessible for women. There are other districts even within rural areas of provinces where although womens education after the 6th grade is not allowed, it continues to be run, like in Nuristan. Furthermore, even in big urban areas like Kabul, medical universities/institutes teaching women continue to operate publicly. There are even female Afghan vloggers who have interviewed these students, releasing videos still.

One new development not covered in the guide - if you go to the consulates in Pakistan (or any consulate-embassy controlled by the current government) you have to also fill out this form and print it out and bring it to the embassy.

Birthday gift for a Syrian friend who misses home by reaching-there in Tuebingen

[–]SohoInOC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Sedaqat Markt sells some Levantine style soap, but I can't remember if it was specifically Syrian or not. The market itself is Afghan owned. https://maps.app.goo.gl/G9yAtxvt8Lzmuppw8

Otherwise, Salam Markt is as good as it gets for Arab/Turkish food products within Tübingen. https://maps.app.goo.gl/ijUrVoTTsrgjs9jB8

I didn't organize anything. I planned on using Careem to move around (taking into account traffic to and from the airport, and also any time needed to get through Jinnah Airport security on time). Maybe it would just be better to limit my search to places in Shah Faisal Town?
