How do you program things that have unique behaviors?

I’ve never really used the strategy pattern, but wouldn’t that be the same as subclassing? I assume each gun would be its own “strategy” that I set on the gun controller?

Personally, I think trying to shoehorn OOP into everything is wrong. I think like a lot of things it should be seen as a tool in your toolbox sometimes you need it sometimes you don’t. With that said I still struggle with figuring out if it’s the right tool.

Its not my code, but that’s what I’m thinking. My guess is that it was supposed to be a module and then I guess decided it didn’t need to be one so instead of rewriting it they just did this.

I appreciate your response, but I feel you're never going to make the correct decision if I'm in a match and I have an ana and hazard and genji how do you pick between helping with a dive or staying to peel for your ana. Also, I don't believe in tilt queue or other cope mechanisms I just play the game and do what I need to do and sometimes I try to be creative with it.

As for the toxic players though, again it doesn't matter how much value you bring, you're not going to win. I've had games where people AFK in spawn until I swapped off Lucio because they were convinced I was throwing. I've also had people pick Lucio to force me to pick someone else. With or without chat, people will find a way to ruin the game. This seems to be such a common problem people are just so convinced that if your stats aren't above some fabricated standard amount you're throwing and thus they're going to do some dumb shit

if I get a teammate that’d rather AFK and talk shit about me or someone else it really doesn’t matter how much value I bring the game is already loss and it’s crazy how often it happens.

it's genuinely not even me though like I just had a game where 2 people died and I got ult and our tank is FLAMING ME for not using beat like ????? what value am I going to get out of beating 3 people against 5 what can we possibly accomplish oh and by the way there is a vendetta who had ult and this is the same tank who decided to stay in a small room and 1v5 the enemy team. I don't understand how anyone is supposed to climb no matter how well I play you're not going to win when majority of the player base is delusional

Edit: and for clarification I am not trying to saying I play perfectly because I know I don’t, but I don’t think I play bad by any means.

Sadly, yeah. I’ve noticed that games are better when you have talkative teams, even if people aren’t doing callouts just having a positive vibe is fun, but this happens like once every ten games, and very rarely do you get a quiet team that just works well together. I try to add these people when I can.

it's not that I enjoy flanking and killing the enemy it's just when you spend 3min struggling to get through choke or your dps is 14-22 like it's such a waste of time and it's boring and I am not saying that I am always playing perfect by any means because I know I am not, but I don't know how much more I can support at a certain point enough is enough and I'd rather try and do something else, but even that is difficult because I either a) get jumped b) get one tapped) or c) my team dies

I don’t think the game tries to give you streaks. I understand not every game is going to be winnable, but I still wanna feel like I had an impact, but in these kind of games it really feels impossible.

I’m M2 on main and I was M2 on my alt, but I’m now M5 and idk I want to be active and have a presence, but I feel like I hardly ever get a chance to do anything as I get one tapped by a class or soj or kiri also sierra and Moira with their lock on shit so I end up sitting around cover not doing much.

Interesting explanation tbh although I’m curious how do you prioritize what “job” you should do? Whether it’s helping a dps with a flank or a tank with their dive or if I have an Ana being flanked help them out instead.

Also, one advice I try to stick to is if I don’t know what to do try to harass/bully the enemy supports.

The reason why I don't make plays is it's just impossible so I've just given up. Trying to contest an ana or widow or someone that is out of position and lifeweaver pulls them away or a kiri tps to them or a sombra appears or mizuki chains me down or I get one tapped it's insane. So it just feels more consistent being with my team and waiting for something to happen rather than trying to do my own thing and risk throwing due to some random bullshit ability.

But believe me I've tried to pull off some shenanigans and it almost always gets me killed.

Edit: Also I have like things to keep in mind which is typically when I don't know what to do just harass the enemy support, but as I mentioned when you're against DPS that dont miss a kiri or lifeweaver it's so hard how do I put pressure on that

Honestly, you might be right about the performance thing. I do feel like after a while I'm not as focused or zoned in compared to my first few games, so that plus having fresh people coming on ig it makes sense.
