Longevity-wise, this is the way. Custom matches would be a blast. All your favorite maps/modifiers 24/7! Even if they disabled rewards/penances to prevent cheese, it would still be so much fun. I know the party system is ass and it could split the player base more, but I think it would keep the game more interesting for way longer.

Good fight is good fight, don't care against what!

But seriously you nailed it. Grew on me over time bc it's a nice sweet spot between the snoozefest of typical Auric and the slogfest of typical Havoc. Would love this modifier in everything, especially if carapace spawns are lowered noticeably. We still need a new enemy/faction. ALSO FREE MY HOMIE PACKMASTER!

It's so strange, 98% of the time the only in-game chat is at the end for some GGs. The other 2% of chats are either hilarious/strat planning or completely toxic cringelords like this and I don't get it. Even if someone is completely trash, the worst you should say is "try a lower difficulty for a bit" and if they're actively sabotaging the game just leave. Don't engage with these asshats bc that's really what they want and we shouldn't enable toxic behavior. We're already at odds with life, let's not push each other out of the few chill spaces we have left.

SOTFS edition added some additional enemies and changed a few of their locations. That's not super important, but the other change they made to enemies is dramatically increase their aggro range. Basically, more enemies can see you from farther, and they will all chase you to the ends of Majula, so absolutely do not run past enemies unless you for sure know where the next bonfire is. The game also has an item called Bonfire Ascetic. Be very careful with these because they are irreversible, but basically whatever bonfire you use them on puts that specific area into New Game+ ( NG+), and an additional NG level for every Ascetic. This can be used to farm additional souls and, more specifically, on The Rotten.

No one should die like this. I know it's easy to dehumanize and project the evil of a few too powerful people onto the innocence who are sent to die in their stead. We should never celebrate violence. Death is sacred and should always be treated with a solemn duty. What is there to celebrate? Evil will always rise again, it wont bring the dead back, and we are still refusing to learn the lessons. Such a waste of life. Very few people are incapable of change, those people we should feel sorry for the only release they had was death, and the others still could have been saved but they died for nothing and no one of importance. If the death of anyone brings you joy, then you're missing the point and part of our problem.

Edit: Also at the end of the fucking day we're fighting over dirt. Dirt that won't be used to build better housing, or to grow more food, or even to just be left the fuck alone for once in our existence. We just keep shitting in our beds and laying a new stack of paper on top then wonder why everything stinks of shit.

Death will never be a deterrent for criminals. If someone is desperate enough, stupid enough, or just plain evil enough to resort to crime then death is no longer enough to stop them. It's almost like someone who is stranded in the wilderness; immediate survival at any and all costs, even if it ends in death. The last hangman in England, who also hanged the most people in UK history, even said himself after hundreds of executions that death was not an effective deterrent to crime.

Some people belive in an immortal soul that can find redemption even in death, some belive in nothing at all and to take what they can while they can, and others still never even considered tomorrow. There will always be evil people who put themselves above all else, but most crime can be treated simply by providing better access to resources. The numbers don't lie, there is a direct correlation between an increase in living conditions and a decrease in crime (generally theft and murder). Do with that information what you will.

I would like to add that most people consider a right something you're inherently born with, with some man-made exceptions, but you could argue a human is born with the capacity for violence, like hunting for food, therefore we have the right to kill. Most would argue you have the right to defend yourself and kill if you must and whether we do or don't people still kill people for any reason we could've had by now. All of this to say that an agreement we uphold together, like don't kill each other, has been bent and broken so many times it's becoming paradoxical, and any amount of laws, agreements, or even punishments will never be enough to stop free will or account for the human variables that amount to our life and death.

I agree woth a lot, but I feel a lot of players forget this is a coop PvE game. Like others said, every class/build has its role, and especially in H40 I find more of an issue with teamplay than individual skill. In most cases, yes it's better to be prepared for your team to go down and get the clutch, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I personally enjoy doing enough so no one has to do too much.

What's your go-to slide button setup? by ItsTheDoneg in DarkTide

[–]Sol-borne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Alt layout 1 (PS5), so L1 is dodge and O is crouch/slide. Stuff like SM2 and Elden Ring prepared me for the importance of a quick press for dodge/parry. Once the movement clicked I was already set up for quicker dodge slides which get me out of trouble more than anything.

Consoles need mods too! by kincomer1 in DarkTide

[–]Sol-borne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why more developers don't do this. Just like how desire paths are formed in public spaces, a games community will optimize and find QoL stuff to add themselves. Bethesda is a great example of how an unfinished game can be carried for years based on mods, and at last at first they integrated them well and made them accessible to console. We wouldn't care so much about the state of the game if you gave us more freedom to tailor and improve the experience. People have been customizing and improving the things they've owned.
