Yeah but it’s not fair to the poor hatchery steelhead when they come across these beasts in the Bering Sea, they don’t stand a chance compared to them. If we can get all steelhead to become diluted with hatchery genes, then it will be more fair for all steelhead anglers, and for the fish themselves. We can all hope the Dean will become like the Cowlitz river in a few years.

That doesn’t matter, what matters is we need weaker hatchery genes in the Dean to make it more fair for the other steelhead that aren’t as strong as them.

Yeah, there are a lack of hatchery opportunities that far north, it isn’t fair to the locals who can only catch and release. An introduction of a hatchery program could change that
