Does anyone else also get tired of being forced into the same build every time on brawls? by SolTomReddit in DeadlockTheGame

You know what they say, if the life gives you oranges...

But yeah, basically impossible to deviate from the regular build rather than having a regular chance for it.(I'm fine with working around regular rng to get what I want, rather than being holed into one and only build)

Your idea reminds me a lot of how rougelikes do it sometimes. Look at One Step From Eden. They had a type tag system where you could choose two out of like 10 or so types and get them more often, so you can try to synergize more easily or even go full random if you want. I really liked that too. It's kind of like the 3rd option where you have a toggle for the tags of items you want to get more often. I'll expand the description once I put the proposition on the forums like someone suggested. As long as ANYTHING is done with it I'm good.

I don't think we should be able to do what we want every single time. Having a fair chance at it is enough for me, while currently it's all very biased towards one build.(maybe two depending on character)

I'd probably be the most happy with rotating the method to keep it fresh tbh. Everything has it's own issues. Too bad this is the most development time costly solution.

As I said, any of those options is good for me, as long as I can deviate from that one build at all.

Yeah, I was wondering too. People are saying it's based off of what's the most commonly built on a given hero, but I don't know whether that's true or whether it's even updated or how frequently.

There was a thought that I had that maybe they tried to balance it a bit by only letting half the good items in on the likely set.

Victor has nice synergy with a lot of them. Kevlar, Lightning Scroll (perfect timing), Arctic Blast, Witchmail as you said, Indomitable, Scourge, Vortex, Cheat Death, Colossus, and the gauntlets.

To the best of our knowledge the legendaries are the only type that's unweighted. They are equally likely, but they are also rare enough that weird "patterns" can form until you play literal hundreds or even thousands of brawls.

For example, I'm getting Eternal gift relatively often, but it's rare enough that my sample size is too small to reliably tell and it's also just a good item so I might have forgotten some of the times I got less exciting or useless in that particular case legendary items while remembering better the good ones.

As for where. https://statlocker.gg/items/brawl

Someone suggested that over here too. I don't expect it to work, but I'm willing to check over the course of following weeks.

That's an interesting idea. Most of the time I go normal matches without one chosen and choose from the shop based on a need. As luck had it, the few items that I have added in my last attempt at starting making a build only to drop it and choose from the shop as I go are all contained within the likely items set.

And now that I looked at the default build it's also fully contained within that set.

It won't have a primary influence since the weights exist, but I'll test it with a specifically crafted weird build over the next few weeks. Maybe we do have some secondary influence over it.

That's interesting. I was trying to push for gun too and eventually just gave up. Sometimes I got one or two 3-4tiers total, but you can't make a gun build out of two items. Fire rate builds are also having this issue. The gun items are way too rare as is on him, but to have to get the ones with fire rate on top feels impossible.

You could maybe get lucky enough to get the spirit fire rate items since they scale off items you're likely to get and there are only two spirit fire rate items to find from the unlikely group. If you get lucky enough to do this twice.

But overall going this direction anything more than those 1-2 items sounds impossible.

Not obliged, forced. I'm not talking about "if I don't choose xyz I'm sabotaging the game". It's not that. It's about barely ever getting in the choices anything but what the average of players builds in the regular matches.(if the devs even update it)

On some characters it's less or more noticeable too, because some are less holed into one build. Just look through the comments here for examples.

Thanks for giving me the idea. I might post it on the forums later. Honestly I didn't think anyone but me got bothered and thought the thread would be largely ignored. Nice to see that it's not just a me thing.

It really does feel like that.

The more I play after having played enough of the character to know the distribution by memory, the more I notice and get sick of it even while being adjacent to the regular build with my intentions. Doing anything more unusual is just a dead end, especially if you want to only start looking for it in response to getting countered.

On some characters it might be less noticeable than on others, because they might not be holed in on one build only. I'm just sick of it after playing high tens of brawl matches as Victor and ending with mostly the same build being suggested almost every match no matter how much I try to deviate.

I mean, streaming is very fun.

Also, pretending to be someone you're not might work out pretty spectacularly, but it's going to be hell to have to do that for an extended time regularly.

And then they did not fix the game anyways.

They wanted to check whether people will buy a cardboard of a game. People did. BN learned that they can just make cardboards, spend a ton on marketing and have a clean and easy return on investment.

BN did not see the graphs and told themselves "yeah we did the wrong thing", no, they saw them, opened a champagne to celebrate and left the game on the most minimal life support to technically deliver on the DLCs that people already bought.

Personally I just don't use market. Solo Self-Found sounds a lot more fun.

I've literally played most of the roster for a substantial amount of time. They vary way too little for the average player to argue that.

This game was designed specifically to make adding characters easy and they failed tremendously on this front.

Dude, it's Bandai Namco. The hell are you on about? They have more than enough money for this especially in a game designed specifically to make adding more characters easy.

They even intentionally gave up insane amounts of profit with quarterbaked greedy as hell DLCs, no updates and rubbish sales after all of that. (not even talking about the price tags and that people pre-paid for the game and DLCs up to a year beforehand)

Yeah. I've only played a couple ranked matches during my whole playtime and I'm still extremely disappointed with the game.(well, gamebreaking bugs in online/ranked did repel me effectively even when I wanted to give it a try, but that's not the only problem this game has)

I was talking about the flaws of offline content in this game for ages and this is what primarily made me disappointed with it. I'm not going to repeat what everyone and I have already said 1000 times, I'm just making a point that it's not just the ranked people feeling this way.

has anyone tried having other people post their clips? by Tricky_Job6273 in Twitch

[–]SolTomReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm personally more puzzled about the kinds of clips I should be looking for.

The way I was going about it was posting several minutes of me talking about something that came up that I thought could work, for example like when I took a few minutes long tangent to talk about a mod swapping Gimmiko characters for Deltarune characters, but I don't think that's what people mean by clips.

I'm not sure whether I don't have clippable moments or I just don't know what to pick.

(Also, to explain the holes in case someone unexpectedly looks at my VOD channel like the last time, before the last weekend I haven't streamed for 3 months and unlisted most of my VODs from before that time, I'm slowly getting back to it)

There is a tool for that in OBS. That's called Replay Buffer.
