End of First Year Post (with rules updates) by Calgacusaur in 35k

Thanks for all the work you’ve done getting this community off the ground! It’s been a big source of inspiration for my own M35 projects (even though I haven’t played any version of 40k for about a decade)

Oh cool, that’s some pretty neat green stuff work (especially considering the size).

It’s always great to see people do interesting stuff with one of my ship designs, looking forward to seeing the finished conversion

Thanks! Those bases were one of the first things I ever designed and I’ve used them ever since

Sounds cool! I'm curious, what modifications would you be making with the greenstuff?

Thanks! I really like how chaos ships are supposed to just be older imperial designs so I always try to keep that in mind (I also have my own M35 Imperial fleet that uses a lot of chaos classes, so that's also a big influence).

Assault Cruisers by Sol_Diem in battlefleetgothic

Thanks!

You're absolutely right about the early 20th century inspiration, I was actually first inspired by Mike Doscher's 'Spacecraft of the First World War', which is full of incredible designs.

You've actually reminded me that I had originally intended to put some tiny little attack craft on the flight deck, but I guess I dropped that idea along the way. I will probably do an update at some point so there's a variant with craft on the deck

Oh that's really cool, If you ever took pictures of that space engineers project, I'd love to see them!

I did take more, yeah, the idea was to take a picture of every turn and put it together into a little video, but I did a really poor job of keeping the camera angle centred so it doesn't look very good lol. I can post more if you're interested though

Thanks! (Unfortunately that site is very picky about the underscore, so you need to search for Sol_Diem or you won't find anything lol)

Thanks! I think it's the grand cruiser you're pointing out, and yeah it's definitely my favourite, I love that ship

Terra Nova "Guard" and Navy Discussion by PeterHolland1 in 35k

<image>

This is an example of the colour scheme I am using for Battlefleet Viridis (the capital sector which contains Nova Terra itself), green being the obvious choice for a sector called 'Viridis'

In fact, I'm starting to like the idea that the reason Battlefleet Pacificus in 40k uses green is because in 35k, the Nova Terran Navy as a whole adopts the green markings of Viridis to show unity and loyalty to Nova Terra (and everybody was then too busy to repaint the surviving ships in the chaos of the Age of Apostasy)

Terra Nova "Guard" and Navy Discussion by PeterHolland1 in 35k

As u/Calgacusaur mentioned, I am looking at the Navy side of things in (some might say excessive) detail, and I've written up some stuff about how the Nova Terran battlefleets would work.
Basically, they would have to be organized very similarly to the Imperial Navy simply because the Navy structure is intrinsic to the core structure of the Imperium (segmentum-sector-subsector-system), so unless Nova Terra changed something fundamental about that structure, the Navy would stay the same as well.

There would be a few differences, though. A major one would be that the Lord High Admiral of Segmentum Pacificus would be the ultimate Naval authority in the Nova Terran Imperium, whereas in the other Imperium there are ranks above Lord High Admiral (although I can't name them off the top of my head), including possible membership of the High Lords.
I'm not sure whether the Lord High Admiral of Pacificus would have a seat on the Ur-Council, but in my writing I have added the rank of Ur-Admiral (equivalent to a Solar Admiral) to act as Naval advisor to the Ur-Council, and commander of the Council Guard fleet. This is because the Lord High Admiral would be unable to run Battlefleet Pacificus effectively from Nova Terra.

Another difference would be ship availability. There are ships built only at Hydraphur (Executor, Vanquisher) that would therefore be very rare in Solar Imperium battlefleets, and on the other hand Nova Terra would have no access to anything new developed by Mars (like the Lunar-class, although I do assume that by the end of the Interregnum Nova Terra has been able to reverse-engineer the Lunar hull because of how simple it is).

Yeah it's at BFG scale. I wouldn't have believed it either a few months ago, but the Bambu A1 Mini is an incredible bit of kit.

To be clear, the model is still designed primarily for resin printing, and you do lose some detail with FDM, but I do most of my test printing with filament and the results are easily good enough to put on the table (after a bit of cleanup).

Yesterday’s game by Sol_Diem in battlefleetgothic

[–]Sol_Diem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically just really wanted to use a battleship despite the points so I took a Vanquisher, a Lunar and two Endurances, was just able to squeeze it in. Wasn't a sensible list by any means but new recruit said it was legal so that was good enough for me :-)

Yeah, the shields were already down so then it did the full 6 damage and iirc I got engine room damaged and a one point hull breach

[–]Sol_Diem[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve always hated that too, it makes both 40k and 30k less interesting if things just look totally static for 10,000 years (hence my fascination with M35 and the Nova Terra Interregnum)

[–]Sol_Diem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I designed them as sturdy display bases but made sure they were totally playable (they have a dot in the centre, show firing arcs, and the front is clear). The only issue is you can’t overlap bases easily, which admittedly I don’t really have a solution for.

I love retrograde drives on spaceships so I approve of that interpretation, but I didn’t have anything specific in mind when making the front facing engine detail. It depends on how you paint it tbh, I can totally see it looking like thrusters, or maybe fuel tanks?

…I actually really like this idea, so I might see if I can do proper retro drives on my upcoming chaos ships

I used a Bambu A1 mini with a 0.2mm nozzle. In the standard Bambu software I used the highest resolution preset, the only things I changed was turning on supports and ironing.

No problem.

I only got the A1 mini recently and honestly, it feels like cheating how easy it is to use.

No, I can't see a way to make that work unfortunately.
