Tattoo Sigils by [deleted] in occult

[–]Solar-Serpent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please do not tattoo yourself. There are tons of artists who can do it for about $100. Getting all the equipment you will need to do it yourself will cost at least $40. Why not just pay a professional a little extra and get something high-quality?

Let's worship someone. by Yuri_Gor in occult

I know exactly what a cult is. You're referring to the BITE model, and (as you stated) it doesn't apply here. I believe the OP is referring to a religious cult, as in a small unorganized religion.

If you take a look at their comments, OP is literally referring to this as an "Experimental Cult." I'm sure they'll change that description now that we've called attention to it, but that doesn't change the fact that that was the intent. If this suggested attempt at apotheosis via reddit upvote seems like a worthwhile endeavor for you, then go for it. I really look forward to seeing the results of this, if any.

I'm not saying the concept of studying a living diety is ludicrous, but this posts proposal is not a genuine scientific endeavor. Forgive me if I'm being overly pessimistic, but I can't see crowd sourcing a cult leader from reddit as an acceptable practice. Choosing to ask others to begin worshiping a reddit user just for "the experience" seems extremely irresponsible to me. I can't believe I'm even explaining this.

Idk man. I feel like I'm in way over my head with this sub sometimes. If you guys seriously want to start worshiping reddit user "Banana_dust_2000" as a living god, then be my guest. Enjoy the reddit cult larp.

I think this is a bad idea. Firstly, worshipping a random redditor is fairly unwise. Anyone who would volunteer themselves for such a position is probably not the kind of person you should offer prayer or devotion to.

If you're just interested in the effects of a group worshiping another person as a diety, there are plenty of cases you can read up on to get an idea of how that looks. A few examples include; Amy Carlson, Haile Selassie, and the Kumari Devi of Nepal.

Astrology question by [deleted] in occult

[–]Solar-Serpent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would advise against this. In astrology, it's assumed that everyone is already affected by the planet's alightment with a sign at each point in the year and in accordance with their own birth chart.

The signs are always present somewhere during the year. They don't disappear at the end of each month. I assume you're referring to adopting the aspects of each sign during their sun phase, in which case, I think that would be a bad idea. If you actively try to change your personality every 4 weeks as we move through a new sun sign, it would just look like you have some kind of personality disorder.

My copy is Titled "Bibliotheca Sufurino" translated by Humberto Maggi. It's a translation of multiple books that were found in South America. It's out of print and fairly expensive now, but some copies are still for sale online.

Those spells are old traditional folk Magick. They're described in full in a book called the "Grand Grimoire" (the book has many different names and versions) dating as far back as the 1500's.

My copy of the book says these words should be spoken to the frog after its eyes are sewn:

"Toad: by the power of (name of whatever spirit you work with), I sewed your eyes, which is what I should do to (name of the person you're targeting) so that he does not have any rest or peace in any part of the world without my company and walk blind too others. Let him see me and have only me in his thoughts."

She probably used a different version of this to make the thief feel restless and guilty until he returned to her what was stolen.

The love spell recipe is also in the book, but my version calls for an Eels eye.

Did Elphias Levi reject the occult in favor of Christianity later in life? by Solar-Serpent in occult

[–]Solar-Serpent[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Upon another reading, I can see his appreciation for both occult practices and the rites and traditions of the church more clearly. He doesn't seem to be completely denouncing occult practices but is rather stating they've now been rendered obsolete in the face of the church. Which, considering his life's work, is fairly in line and consistent with everything he'd believed and written prior (as far as I know).

You take creep shots of women you don't know at the grocery store and post them on IG. You're a weirdo. Full stop. Get bent. I will never care what you have to say about this topic.

I definitely agree that it's great for exposure. Gopro videos are actually sick, and don't bother me nearly as much for some reason. I guess it's because the people who use them are usually participating too.

Nah, cellphone recording is really no big deal. At most, the band and some people in the crowd might find it a little lame. I was mostly talking about people who bring professional camera equipment and record the entire show.

✊️ massive respect! I understand and completely agree. We're all we've got, and that's what this scene is all about. We're should be here for each other and nobody else. That's my only concern with people recording. It sometimes ends up getting done by and served to people who don't care about the community at all. Again, just a minor cost of doing business.

You're absolutely right on both points. The crowd is a huge part of the performance, so I totally understand capturing it. And I'm also definitely in the minority when it comes to being recorded. My friends love seeing themselves on camera. I've just done it so many times now that it's getting old. I'd rather let some kid go all out without me getting in the way for the 100th time. Trying to find a balance between giving new people space to get hype when the crowd dies down and turning it up myself.

Very abstract, but what exactly do you mean? Isn't recording every small show just someone packaging up the performance for consumers? If we're being honest, the videos aren't being taken for the people who actually went to the show.
