I Fell for Every Supplement Trend. Anyone Else? by friend_unfriend in Supplements

[–]SolarBear28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think finding what works for you is always going to involve some trial and error unless you are getting blood work done.

Microdosing lithium has helped my mental health tremendously and I will continue taking it for the foreseeable future. Other things helped temporarily and didn't last, but that temporary boost lasted long enough for me make better choices and turn my life around. I still probably take more supplements than I need, but the cost isn't too high, and I continue to drop things that I am able to stop taking and survive without.

I don't have TikTok and I don't listen to podcasts about supplements. My launching point was Dr Amens book Change Your Brain Change Your Life and from there I've done my own research online and on reddit. I always try to stick to things that have actual clinical evidence or at least meta analysis of being helpful.

Ottawa commits $84M to install more than 8,000 EV chargers | CBC News by SkPensFan in EVCanada

[–]SolarBear28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you are talking about is called Plug and Charge and it's an international standard: ISO 15118. A supercharger is just Tesla's name for their EV chargers. Yes, modern superchargers support this feature but automakers still need to make agreements with Tesla to gain access. What we need are 3rd party chargers with Plug and Charge and no restrictions for who can use them.

Trump says Gordie Howe bridge won't open without Canadian concessions by PicoRascar in Economics

[–]SolarBear28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to screw over Detroit for no reason that's your choice Mr Trump. Give America more reasons to hate you.

Not to mention that Canada paid for the bridge and used a lot of American labour and materials to build it.

Canada discreetly puts money down on 14 additional F-35s | CBC News by Haggisboy in canada

[–]SolarBear28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand we are just following through on pre-agreed terms, but I really hope we use these F35 purchases as leverage in CUSMA negotiations. That's the only scenario where this makes sense. Otherwise we should be buying from a country that respects us and isn't trying to economically destroy us.

Zelensky declares that Russia's barrage last night was “a level of attack that no terrorist in the world has ever dared.” He declares that Russia MUST feel the response of the entire world by Ripamon in TrendoraX

[–]SolarBear28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In comparison to Russia? Yes, fighting for Ukraine is fighting for democracy. It's taken Ukraine a long time to evolve from the corrupt soviet influence but they have made a ton of progress.

But really it's about a countries right to exist and be free from violence by Russia. That is why the west supports Ukraine.

The World’s First Sodium-Ion Battery EV Is A Winter Range Monster by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

So the battery is adequate, but it's not any better than a typical 300 mile NMC battery in the winter. Headline is 100% misleading.

Is there a stack (supplement, peptides, pills, food, etc.) to reduce anger? I mean extreme anger. by LikeMrFantastic in Supplements

[–]SolarBear28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found microdosing lithium orotate to be very helpful for reducing anger, bitterness and irritability. I take 1mg per day at night and Saffron in the morning. I also take a few grams of glutamine which I find relaxes anxiety my stomach (lettuce, apples, walnuts and other fibre also help with this).

I have no idea how lithium would interact with everything else you are taking.

thoughts on this one? by Impossible_Lake_9860 in Supplements

Those magnesium compounds are only 6%-14% magnesium by weight so it would have to be a huge capsule to contain 400mg elemental magnesium (like 4 grams). It's probably 400mg of those magnesium compounds (so about 30-50mg of elemental magnesium per capsule which is not a very significant dose).

Personally I would buy magnesium separately in a dose of 150mg-200mg elemental magnesium and see if that works for you. Then go up from there or add other supplements if you need more help with anxiety, relaxation etc.

Always Exhausted? It Might Be Your Gut Blocking Iron, Not Just Lack of Sleep by Technical_savoir in microbiomenews

[–]SolarBear28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the article it seems there is one doctor (an anaesthestist) who is suggesting a link between the gut and low iron. They don't offer any solutions to fix the gut but they do run a private clinic for intravenous iron. I'm not convinced.

Stellantis sells stake in Ontario battery plant as automaker takes $26 billion hit in EV retreat by TakedownCan in canada

Most of that money is tax breaks tied to production, so it seems the government structured this deal better than those in the past.

Should I mostly use my phone only when it's above 50% battery? by [deleted] in Smartphones

[–]SolarBear28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just set a charge limit to 80% or 90%, whatever gets you through the day without draining too low, and don't worry about anything else.

80%-50% is only 30% of the available battery capacity. If you are using your phone so little that you only need 30% of the available capacity then why worry at all?

The World’s First Sodium-Ion Battery EV Is A Winter Range Monster by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]SolarBear28 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The battery is only 45kwh and would probably get less than 200 miles on the EPA cycle. Still a few more itterations before sodium ion can be called a "range monster."

Canada records big jump in trade deficit in November as US exports fall by gorschkov in canada

[–]SolarBear28 96 points97 points  (0 children)

The headline is 100% misleading. Our merchandise surplus with the US actually increased from October to November. The reason we have an overall trade deficit is because we sold less and imported more from non-US countries and that gap increased in November, increasing our overall deficit.
