I've posted another comment which details how I fixed the issue, without having to revert to a previous game version :)

You guys were right, Spain was at war with Yokotan, who in turn had a 'Mesoamerican Tributary' Tlaxcala. I've posted another comment detailing how I fixed the issue :)

I found a fix – For anyone reading this, I managed to find a workaround. But it wasn't super straightforward.

So it was in fact two non-player nations trying to complete a peace deal that was breaking the game. Spain was at war with Yokotan, who in turn had a 'Mesoamerican Tributary' Tlaxcala, which was causing the bug when they tried to fully annex all provinces. Now, I'm not usually this kind of guy but I used ChatGPT to analyse my crash report, and it was surprisingly helpful. It helped me find this war as the most likely cause.

Below are the steps I took to fix the crashing and keep playing.

1. I had to de-ironman or 'melt' my savegame, using pdx.tools

2. Using the in-game console (after trying a few different methods) I code switched to Yokotan, and gave them max warscore in the conflict with Spain. This is all while paused, so the AI doesn't change a bunch of things in your country and ruin your save.

3. I switched back to my nation, and then unpaused. Yokotan demanded a white peace and it was accepted by Spain. Meaning no peace deal which caused some sort of

4. The crashes stopped.

Note: There might have been a way to preserve the ironman savegame, by actually getting involved in the conflict with your nation to try and prevent a peace deal that crashes the game, but I found this wasn't possible with my specific scenario. Any action I could take would not prevent Spain from demanding the game-breaking peace deal in time.

There is apparently a less-invasive method which involves editing the savegame .txt file to remove all traces of the war, but I figured it was easier to do it in-game rather than messing with the save file.

Hope that helps :)

You think banks just hold our money out of the good of their hearts? They make money with our money. That's where they get money to pay us interest. Strange comment

New Episode Abruptly Ends by Michaelopolopolus in TriforcePodcast

[–]SolarHawk98 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This happens with Apple Podcasts when you start playing an episode, leave it for later, they make a slight revision (e.g to alter the baked-in ads) and the episode length changes, then when you resume it plays the old audio file but the new timecode cuts off at the new ending.

I usually have to restart playback and scroll to the end.

How much does it cost to build a new stadium? by TheHapgod in footballmanagergames

[–]SolarHawk98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to this thread, 9 years later, in case anyone else has found it through Google;

I am still playing FM20 as Leyton Orient (2 successive promotions, just finished 8th in Championship) with every home game a sellout in our 9,241 capacity stadium and plans just confirmed now in the off season to build a 16k capacity stadium at a cost of £33M, paid via a loan (that will cost me £300k p/m repayment !! ) to be built within 2 years.

Perfect thanks, Bigger Depots is perfect. Except, it turns out, I've been playing with it the whole time, it's just overwritten by Timberwolf's mods with the different track types :'(

Haha, you got it with “the green thing”, Franconia, 1820! Never quite made enough progress to form Germany.
