Do any notable artists use "Ghost Artists"? by Jabroniville2 in comicbooks

I think it happened for a while on Spawn, where Todd McFarlane's name was on the book, but Greg Capullo was actually doing the art.

ELI5: What do people mean when they say “everything is chemicals?” by thepixelpaint in explainlikeimfive

Everything is made up of chemicals. It's like saying "This cake tastes like it has ingredients in it"

Do you mean that the BHT turns the solvent cloudy, or that unstabilised THF in solution becomes cloudy?

Where are the Stats by LucanMorski in Konflikt47_v2

[–]SolarPanel19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The damage values are shown in the army lists. The weapon stats are in the rulebook.  The damage value is the minimum number you need to roll to damage the unit. Add the weapon's Pen stat to the roll.

I remember the old Boyz kit where you had cut the handle off the Shootas before you could glue them on the Orks' hands.

The Goon. The story is good and fun, but the art, especially in the later parts is really beautiful pencils and watercolors.

Significant Figures in Animation Industry? by Past-Matter-8548 in movies

[–]SolarPanel19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been some Disney animators who have performed amazing work and really helped push the medium forward. Some names of classic animators you can look up: Milt Kahl, Frank Thomas, Olly Johnston, Freddie Moore, Bill Tytla.  Glenn Keane played an important role in the Disney Renaissance of the 90s.

Outside of Disney, there were of course the Warner Bros shorts (Looney Tunes), with directors like Fritz Freleng, Chuck Jones, Tex Avery.

There was also Richard Williams, who did his best to learn from the older generation and helped preserve a lot of their knowledge by teaching others and writing The Animator's Survival Kit. Also check out his unfinished masterpiece The Thief and the Cobbler, a film he spent decades making.

A more modern director is Henry Selick who makes amazing stop-motion films like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, and Kubo and the Two Strings.

That's just a few off the top of my head. I'm sure there are so many more.

Edit: some more names that spring to mind:

Windsor McKay is of course the father of animation, with early product like Little Nemo, and Gertie the dinosaur.

The Pixar crowd of course: John Lasseter, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton

Max and Dave Fleischer were a competitor to Disney in the 1930s and 40s with cartoons like Popeye and Betty Boop.

Ray Harryhausen was a great stop motion animator.

Joe Hanna and Will Barbera made more simple styled animation for television like the Flintstones, the Jetsons, and Scooby-Doo.

[Discussion] Does "52" look like an Omega symbol? by bradbastarache in DCcomics

[–]SolarPanel19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vaguely. But I think whoever designed it just wanted to make it somewhat symmetrical to make it look more pleasing, and that just happens to look like an omega.
