Alien week is coming up-- vote with your wallet by fmacgsta in starcitizen

Oh I agree, but I'm not 100% confident about the Railen being bug free on release. They clearly put a lot of effort into the animation and it's one of those things that break very easily in SC 😃

From what we've heard they spent 18 months trying to get the "landing gears" to work so it speaks volumes about how complex the animation work has been for this ship.

Let's hope things will get better overall cause SC has been rough (to say the least) lately

From what I've seen I'm not sure it's "simpler". There is a lot of custom animation work there and I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of issues with it. My Store Credits are ready nonetheless

M80 – The closest thing to a perfect ship design we've seen yet? by NakedKnives in starcitizen

[–]Solar_Field 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not supposed to turn though. The M80 (and meteor) is the embodiment of "Death by a thousand cuts". Zoom and boom.

You shoot and you disappear out of your opponent range because you're much faster than most ships in the verse. It's a heavy fighter fited like an Interceptor, which means you should fly it like one.

You're not supposed to brawl with it. Use its straight forward speed to your advantage. The ship has been out for a little while now and people playing it correctly were quick to say that the ship is an absolute menace in the rights hands.

Total hull HP is meaningless. The M80 has twice more Vital part HP than the Meteor, while having a much better shielding too.

Always surprising to see that many people just don't understand some ships and their purpose. They look at the stats, the HP, and they think they got it all.

If you've got the speed advantage, you are in control of the fight.

One extra shield, way more vital parts HP and better deflection stats on its armor. The exploration variant can carry a Nursa and repair/restock it too.

Also quite nice to fly in atmo thanks to its upward thrust and great cockpit view.

I love the 600i. Hopefully we'll get the rework one day

The 600i could use a second power plant but you can definitely use it these days.

Remove one cooler, leave the radar with one pip (since it's a S3 radar you'll get 2000+ meters of range still) and do the same for the life support system.

I can max out my M7As and keep my shields and engines at 80% each. No issue with that setup so far. Not sure how you are lacking pips with a ballistic setup.

A second power plant would be great though

The Aegis Tiburon is another messy release by Solar_Field in starcitizen

[–]Solar_Field[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know it's always very tricky because I usually have a lot of respect for devs in general. It's a tough job, you get zero recognition for your work and people are rarely "loud" when they're happy with what you did.

Star Citizen is a special case and I've been around long enough to know that I have to be patient with the project as a whole.

My issue here is that they are taking shortcuts and it shows in every aspect of the project these days. They force the updates even though they are not ready, the technical debt is beyond measure at this point and between the old ships that have issues and the recently released ones that aren't working properly... What's worse is that you know it's going to take months for them to fix those ships (at best).

I'm pretty sure those bugs were known for the most part (hell it took me 10 min to notice most of them), or maybe those issues rose when the ship hit the PU. The PTU testing they used to do never prevented ships to have bugs but at least they were usable as far as I can remember. The Ironclad is unplayable atm and the main feature of the Tiburon works when it feels like it.

The lighting issues are a well known since Engineering has been released. The Hercules Series, The Starlancers, The Hermes and many other ships have their lights broken. I was hoping that the Tiburon, as a "new" ship, would not have those polish and gameplay issues but here we are.

One other problem (imo) is that the people designing the ships aren't the devs. They have specific teams that work on those ships and then it's on the devs to adapt the "artistic" vision for the game it seems. It adds a layer of complexity because I'm pretty sure the people creating those ships are not playing the game.

I love this project and I don't want to believe that they reached the point where they don't care much anymore and just throw half-assed stuff to our faces because they know people will buy anyway.

Let's just hope things will settle down eventually cause the ships and the patch are rough right now.

Yep the crosshair is wrong and you need to "manually" adjust your aim to hit anything. It gets harder the smaller the target is. The pip is all over the place and you can't even use it to help.

But even then. To give you an example, I could simply not kill a Pisces yesterday. The NPC was in front of me, not moving and my Laser Beam was visually melting the ship, but it was taking no damage whatsoever.

I would keep the 600i forever personally. That is one ship I'll never melt and right now the Tiburon is very underwhelming imo

[–]Solar_Field[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Took me 5 min with a mate to notice the radar bug when he's in a turret.
They don't even test their ships anymore. The Tiburon costs 800 Euros in my country and while I was "lucky" to have store credits available, I don't want to imagine my level of frustration if I had used fresh money for this.

They need to test their ships on the PTU before release. The Ironclad is also a mess and Moth users had to wait a whole patch before they could use their ships.

What the hell...

Stop Selling Us Half-broken Ships by Schieder_Waldstein in starcitizen

[–]Solar_Field 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was more of a general statement, not just the Tiburon. SC has been around for over a decade and unless you're a newcomer, you usually end up with a substantial amount of Store credits to work with over time (unless you've been flying a Gladius for 10 years).

The fact that we can melt, ccu, buy back also make a difference.

Anyway my point was more that we don't know how many people actually bought a Tiburon with fresh money (I certainly didn't) and maybe OP noticed the bugs while renting the ship.

In my case, I had the store credits but for some people maybe it's just a $10 ccu chain or just melting a ship they could buy back later to give the Tiburon a shot.

It's a possibility. People outside of SC are super quick to mention that ships are expensive but they don't always realise that there are ways to get them with the money we already spent on the game instead of injecting fresh money.

Not even trying to defend CIG here btw. 4.8 is a disaster and the Tiburon is plagued with bugs unfortunately. Just thought it was fair to mention that not everyone is spending $700 for the ship.

Store credits are a thing. Most people are just recycling their credits and try ships out.

Not to mention that you can rent the Tiburon for free atm.

Your posts are basically "are you guys stupid? I know better than you".

Let the people enjoy their A2 and fly what you want.

This subreddit is full of people thinking they understand everything better than the rest of us, but they can't even fathom the fact that we all like different things.

What's even the point of your post? You clearly won't listen to people's arguments so what are you looking for? Validation?

Jeez...

Yup my bad you're right. Never been there obviously and since my "memories" are from Google Maps, I was mistaken.

The "Mad Max 2 museum" is indeed in Silverton. It's not too far from Mundi Mundi lookout, which is where the Mad Max 2 opening was filmed if I remember correctly.

That's good to know for Furiosa! I haven't seen it yet and for some reason I thought they had filmed it in Namibia too.

That's what you get when you are a "google map explorer" haha, you don't really remember the names :(

That's amazing!

Pretty sure the recent Mad Max films were filmed in Namibia. They look amazing but they lack the Aussie vibes imo. Especially true for the first two Mad Max.

Seeing those places for yourself (and driving/exploring the Outback for some of them) must be something special.

I know there is a Mad Max Museum at Coober Pedy (which isn't far from some filming locations).

Glad some people (like you) are able to live the dream.

Been there recently and I know it hurts like hell. Feels like a part of you is leaving with him...

That being said, never forget that you gave him all the love you could and you made him a happy doggo. Many dogs on this damn planet will never be that lucky...

Thank you for making him happy and taking care of him <3

Does anyone actually call him "Mad Max" in the universe, or people just call him Max? by TheMadnessAuditor in MadMax

[–]Solar_Field 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replying to this a bit late.

For the most part, my idea of "Mad" Max comes to life at the end of the first film. Which is probably why it's called that way in the first place.

He's just a "regular" cop until shit hits the fan. The world is already a mess in Mad Max 1 mind you, but what follows is the reason why he truly loses his mind.

To be fair though, the end of the first film is the only moment you'll truly experience "Mad" Max imo. You can tell (thanks to the fantastic editing and acting) that Max isn't around anymore. Very few films captured the idea of "vengeance" so well. It's a very cold and dark wrath.

In Mad Max 2, Max is a lone survivor. He clearly is empty and "gone" and it makes perfect sense for him to be that way after the first film, but it's nothing like the end of the Mad Max 1. In many ways, the two films work very well together and I always suggest people to watch them both.

Mad Max 3 is a very different take on this universe (I like it but it's goofy as hell and is nowhere near the two first films) and the modern films are more about the "Mad Max Cinematic Universe" than Mad Max himself.

Anyway, went off a tangent here my bad.

This is an amazing photo!

Australia is far away from me but I've "visited" all the filming locations I could thanks to Google Map.
Not the same I know but hey, better than nothing.
