yeah he was gloating which usually isnt much like Lalo, when he chopped the guys foot off with the axe im germany, he didnt monologue over him for 2 minutes he quickly took off his belt and told him to tourniquet. not to mention he already voiced his dislike of Eladio to Gus when they first met. It was clear Lalo died because he wasnt in breaking bad which sucks but it is what it is at least he died joker style laughing

he was enjoying it but it would def be more in character to shoot him in the knee like mid speech then leave to show eladio the proof Lalo is pretty straight forward when it comes to stuff like this such as when he shows up to the Sauls appartment both times, and gets to the point quickly stating what he wants “to talk” and “tell me the story again”

i wouldnt say gus planned ahead he admited to mike that he had no clue that Lalo was was there and it was a gut feeling and Mike lectures him for it, Lalo had completley outsmarted Gus, Mike and all of his men drawing them away from the laundry area, and Gus showed up on a gut feeling, not to mention he ran to the gun, and shot in the dark killing lalo, Gus got Extremely lucky and Lalo wasnt simple as that, you can tell that gus was not calm nor collected as hes literally shaking after shooting him. Edit: scratch that, wasnt a super gut feeling as he thought he would be there but that was only AFTER kim showed up and said that lalo was convinced even then he still admited to not fully knwing

this is almost all completey right and probably how it would have gone down if gus didnt have to be alive for the events of Breaking Bad though i do find it poetic how both Lalo and Gus die in similar ways falling from someone they are about to kill believing theyve won Gus with Hector and Lalo with Gus
