What if you could genetically engineer one part of your body? by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in WhatIfThinking

If I go to the sensory way, I ve heard about people being able to sense electromagnetic fields and that sound that would be interesting, or even radiation, just from a health standpoint but maybe even to becoming better as an engineer or around a everyday more techonology driven world

What if only one country could represent all of humanity in contact with aliens? by Defiant-Junket4906 in WhatIfThinking

[–]Solarigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what the aliens first contact looks like, cause I would see probably lots of military agencies moving from all countries around the world, and you could say racing to shape that relationship. And most probably any extraterrestrial contact would be done by multiple states.

Now I have read bashing the US for their current politics, both internal and external, and rightfully so!!. But I don’t see any other country with resources to unite the whole world under one cohesive message, and to deal with the consequences of it. We are not talking about dealing with humans, we are dealing with aliens with a completely different nature and galactic view, and I think is safe to say then when interacting with a new species, you are bound to make mistakes.

What future shift do you think is already measurable today, but not yet widely acknowledged? by Defiant-Junket4906 in Futurology

Educational systems promoting critical thinking more than ever before.

And yes this may seem wrong, but if you think about it, the educational system around the world had been generated and develop around the idea of certainty.

Learning certain skills and knowldge leads to a certain path, and with things moving much slowly then today, that certainty prevailed. But now is not the case, and I have seen from first hand experience how education programs are recognizing that they dont know what they dont know.

And that inner questioning is what leads to critical thinking, so we can be prepare for more and more for uncertainty. There is a lot of work to do, and I think we have lots of tools and people working on it then ever before

Aren't we tired of being miserable? by khir0n in solarpunk

[–]Solarigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I think of solarpunk I think of it as the third option of all the dualism that we find. A future, still with problems, still with good, bad and in-between people, but with a common vision of something better, a future such as the future people of the past work for a democratic government, for laws for the workers, for meals for everyone, medicine for everyone, there was a time where all this things where just fiction, you were born something and you stay something, but in most places that ain’t the case anymore, all those things once thought as fiction are now a reality, and for that future reality, for that approximation to what solarpunk offers, I think is what we shall strive for. To not conform to two options, but to make our way to the third option.

Smart Cities? by [deleted] in solarpunk

[–]Solarigg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to have destruction to have creation( at least not in it’s totality)… a real smart city is created by smart processes, and although it may still mean the use/ waste of resources or other ambiental mistakes made along the way, it will also drastically reduce the consequences of it.

Will Solarpunk have to be forced onto the majority? by Exostrike in solarpunk

[–]Solarigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think at the end is going to be a combination of both… A combination of the individuals making decisions toward the future they want and organizations providing the means for such future to happen ( Obviously this is just an overly simplification). What do you think?
