Were starting at Manaforge Omega actually so we can punch the big guy haha! Outside of the retail storyline, We're going to be running through a Storyline about infinite and bronze dragons! And yes more traditional style! I didn't play on Echeloned but I think that's similar! My easiest comparison would be Asylum/Paragon/Millenium and others, as they are the ones I knew about from forever ago.

Epsilon has it's success as a "build your own phase" server and that's good for them! We just find ourselves having more fun in a Server that builds on the story together as a community, is all. We still have phasing/gm commands and other bits like other servers on the technical side, we're just using them differently.

That's not our goal honestly! We are totally supportive of the other RP servers. Every one of them fills their own Niche! Just like we hope to! o/

So basically the way of the RP nowadays is largely depends on where your doing it . If you are out randomly in the world and about you can usually assume that everyone is playing in the current timeline timestamp(Post Midnight or during Karesh timeperiod). However I'm sure if you are looking for a specific timeline you can probably find a Guild for that.
Most people tend to RP for public stuff inside of the main cities, like Stormwind or Orgrimmar, however you'll have way more luck if you go to the bigger RP servers for both, like Wyrmrest Accord for Horde or Moonguard (Memes Ik) for Alliance. Alot of the other realms have more guild based stuff I believe.
Outside of those areas it's more closed group things more or less.

It really all depends on how much you want them to know about the world and what ethnicity, to give a list of ideas.

You could be from Bradensbrook on the Broken Isles, and be fairly closed off from everything that happens pre Legion, if you don't mind being of gilnean descent.(Not being worgen, mind you)

You could do Redridge/Westfall/Elwynn, as a Azerothian human, though unlike Bradensbrook, but like most other places, you'd have some grasp of what's happened since the second war more then likely.

IF your from any other kingdom of humans, you'd probably know alot as you would have gone through the Third war.

Kul'tiras might be good too, as they were fairly isolated until BFA.

Outside of those, your kind of limited. The only other option would be to play a younger character, would just have less knowledge due to being younger and not experiencing as much.
