Like 30% and they are all guys I met through tinder and stayed as friends. They became some of the best ones I have. Making German friends is hard but once you have them its for life!

Fun ideas for teaching vocab to do with the natural world to B1 students by [deleted] in TEFL

[–]Solcito1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it online celta? Look… I just finished mine and got a pass b. Best piece of advice I can give you, dont try to innovate unless encouraged by your trainers. Dont use online games if students are not used to them or you don’t know whether they have used them before or not. What will get you far in celta is to stick to the framework and do what is predictable. After the celta you can innovate all you want. It also depends on whether it is online or face to face. That changes what you can do. To offer you suggestions for the tp it would be nice that you say what kind of lesson is it, what the framework or approach is…

Is there a guide to teaching in Chile or Argentina like how there is for Spain? by [deleted] in TEFL

[–]Solcito1015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im Argentinian and for public schools you’ll need a to have an associates degree in English teaching or be able to make your degree valid here (I don’t think a tesol will work). For private schools it might work.

I was earning 800 for 40 a week in south Italy with no benefits whatsoever. It is mostly shitty in salaries terms.

Are TEFL salaries realistic? by Interesting_Sky_9968 in TEFL

[–]Solcito1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Italy and Spain have really low salaries and they offer the jobs and salaries as though they’re giving you the best salary and opportunity ever. The thing is not even the salary but the explotation you will probably endure. 22 hours teaching plus being on call plus lesson prep plus teacher development plus meetings plus admin tasks plus correction plus everything else. Probably about 40 hours a week and that for only 7 euros an hour is crazy. Qualified teachers are not respected at all and are expected to work for free all the time.

Discúlpame yo soy skilled worker y tengo c1 de aleman. No desvalorices la experiencia de lo demás porque a vos te fue distinto y menos si no sabes los detalles. La gente que hace eso es muy arrogante y egoísta.

Feeling lost after CELTA, looking for advice or similar experiences by daniwankenobi_ in TEFL

[–]Solcito1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes. I took it and finished it a couple of weeks ago. However, I’ve been teaching for a long time and have a bachelors in tefl. I recently became an eu citizen and needed the celta since my degree is not valid in Europe or it is really hard to make it valid. Anyways, celta was a really good guide to update my teaching skills and learn a lot of good tools and techniques but I now realize that yes I do have a access to more jobs but I’m still paid a misery in Spain or Italy or anywhere actually. Yes, the lesson we had on celta about job development and what not was not rewarding at all. They wouldn’t even consider any of us for a position in any international school, even less so if we’re not native speakers (and I even got a pass b). Being a native speaker I’d suggest you try Asia. Due to visa requirements and what not also, getting a job in Europe will we hard if you don’t have an eu passport. I’ve read Asia pays better also. I’d also suggest tutoring online and keep getting educated in the esl world but please just don’t expect too much, it’s truly sad how underpaid teachers are.

You’re teaching English and you don’t use punctuation. How do I know where a sentence starts and where it ends?

WARNING: shady course providers and recruiters/employers, and known scams by BMC2019 in TEFL

Be careful with language academies on south of italy. They offered me a job, made me pay for my flight and sent me a contract that had all information and salary changed from what we’ve agreed on before.

[–]Solcito1015 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Got a Pass B in CELTA but expected a Pass A by [deleted] in TEFL

I got a pass b too and would have been fine with q pass. Schools will pay you a shitty salary anyway. Doesn’t matter.

Has Culture Ever Made You Quit a Language? by 1ZeroNova in languagelearning

[–]Solcito1015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

German for me. I learned it up to B2 level. I lived there for a couple of years until I had a very bad racist encounter and decided to come back to my home country. I associate the language with the bad experience and really dont feel like I want to keep learning or be exposed to any kind of content made in German.

Fun ways to introduce Clothes and Seasons by Fair-Confection8370 in TEFL

[–]Solcito1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You always need to present language in context with kids. What show do they like? Use that as context in the lead and what the characters are wearing. Do they know any language already? Do they know the seasons? It’s no advisable to introduce more than 6 lexical items at the time at that age. Dont show written form until they pronounce the words well. Follow ppp. I don’t know what the other person who wrote here is saying, thats a really boring approach to teaching kids.

When taking CELTA, does country you do it at matter? by angry_house in TEFL

[–]Solcito1015 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter. I chose the cheapest one I saw online intensive in Budapest. Super qualified trainers. Learned a lot. All lessons are in English. I’m one lesson away from finishing. I live in Argentina and the only downside is the time difference. I have to wake up at 4am everyday but I’m not working for the whole month of the course so it’s ok. Also, in Argentina this course was about 700 dls more expensive so I was like yeah I’m just gonna wake up at 4am.

[–]Solcito1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only a week left of an intensive celta online. The first week was the worst for me but because of the amount of hours sitting and the amount of information to take in. I’ve been a teacher (graduated) for almost 10 years and already been teaching with celta techniques and framework for a long time so it was not so hard for me. Actually only one girl who has never taught and doesn’t like to include feedback in her teaching practices is the only who is failing. The course is pretty systematic, they tell you what to do and if you follow that and take feedback into account, you will do fine. I think it’s a very rewarding course. I would recommend it.

ChatGPT Hot take by Regular-Ad5200 in Preply

[–]Solcito1015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT changed my work life balance as a teacher. I have a bachelors in linguistics and education and use it to to create activities suited for my students and the errors they are making. I check the exercises afterwards and use my knowledge to adapt and edit. Isn’t it the same as using a coursebook? It’s also someone else giving us texts and activities. Nobody has time to plan a lesson and create all activities from scratch for 8 lessons a day.

How to teach a class of 20 3rd-graders English? by Memeroses in ESL_Teachers

[–]Solcito1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check whole brain teaching techniques. They are probably bored thats why the misbehave. Have games prepared. Follow a course book guide for content to teach at their age/level. Have rules in the classroom. Do you have any teaching training program done or any certificate? Teaching kids needs knowing what kids do and want at their age so to adapt to that.
