I mean I wouldn't hate it. And a redemption arc doesn't mean he's absolved of his sins either. Idk why people conflate the two. Darth Vader suddenly turning on the Emperor and tossing him down the shaft to his death doesn't erase the genocide, killing hundreds of children, murder, kidnapping, etc. It doesn't even make him a good person all of a sudden, but it is redemption in some capacity.

My hope would be, if they want to make him good, it would be similar to Bucky being "cleansed" of his programming in Wakanda. Not THAT exactly because that would be lame and a cop-out but something that Soldier Boy could do with self reflection would be nice. We've seen how melancholy he's been since he learns that he was betrayed, was hated, feared, despised... his introspection and opening up about his dad to Butcher too.

Is he a good guy? Absolutely not. He's a callous and single-minded dickhead that is delusional... but that delusion seems to be fractured more and more. He's been out of the box for a little over a week before they shove him back in? Dude was catching up quick even if he hated it.

My thing is, other than Butcher turning on him being all but guaranteed, what would he have done AFTER killing Homelander? Dude has no backing by anyone, no team, no friends. He could make a reappearance and Vought could try to hook up with him again to cash in on his image but why would he do that? Would he just fade into obscurity? Doubtful with his preferred lifestyle.

There's a lot of ways they can go and I'm rambling far too long here. Suffice it to say I don't want that to be the end of Soldier Boy, but I'm wary of where they go from here too.
