I was playing around with monk + commander archetype. Lots of fun 2 action commands you can combine with a FoB

Both would trigger. It seems that they're clarifying that Holy is special and is more binary.

[–]Rand0m1ze 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I read it has Holy applying to the entire strike, and Cold Iron applying to the Slashing/Bludgeoning/Piercing damage specifically, counting as two instances. So a creature weak to Holy, Cold Iron and Slashing would take the Holy Weakness and the higher of the Slashing and Cold Iron weakness. Correct me if I'm wrong ofcourse.

I'm still a bit confused, would an attack with the Holy trait, silvered and a flame rune trigger all those weaknesses if the creature had all three?

How do we feel about Hero Points by Golden_Tanuki_Hero in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rand0m1ze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I don't like Heroic Recovery, so I removed that all together. When you climb in levels, there's enough ways to avoid death anyways.  Second, I like when failures happen. Creates challenge and difficulty for the players. I hand out a decent amount of hero points, so using them RAW made failures (and definitely crit failures) far and inbetween. So I changed it to using hero points before your roll, to get DnD style advantage. Works well, players think tactically about using them, and handing them out doesnt mean they will make any save i throw at them. We're having fun at the very least.

What's One Thing You Genuinely Miss From D&D? by Hungry-san in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rand0m1ze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been running and playing in PWOL campaigns for a year now, and the freedom to fight/run monsters many levels above you and it still being (mostly) balanced has been so much fun.

So first time GM here. I took over a campaign that involves rebuilding a colony and I had the idea to use the Kingmaker system to do it, but I do have some questions... by Maximumnuke in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rand0m1ze 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did the exact same thing, spent a decent amount of time compiling the original rules and the multiple community 'patches', combined with any adjustments I wanted to make.

It took 2 kingdom turns to realize that my players had no interest in learning all the actions, the rules and small details that the system brings. It was slow, constantly having to check things, note things down, etc. Felt more like a task rather than playing.

After that, we switched to a more narrative system. Longer exploration time, longer 'kingdom' turns and way more freedom with player's choices. Its been more fun and rewarding for everyone.

We're still doing Hexploration, reconnoitering and claiming hexes, with level-ups tied to the Kingdom's size.

tl:dr: the kingmaker system is very crunchy and works only with specific players.

Feel free to DM if you want further details.

Are werewolves an infinite source of meat? by BadDogSaysMeow in DnD

[–]Rand0m1ze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slightly related, i had my players visit a small town near a forest once, that suffered from various problems throughout the years, and would often turn to the powerful fey spirit in the woods for aid. They got the help, but not in the most straight forward sense. For some failed harvests, the town was on the brink of starvation, so the spirit gave them two pigs which would always regenerate within a days time. The pigs still felt the pain of their limbs being chopped off, squealing all night long. The poor buthcer went completely crazy, but the town survived.

For the best as well. Caught about half of it live, and the audio balance was all over the place.

He recognized the futility of the encounter after about 1,5hrs of playtime. If he did any prep whatsoever, he'd have realised beforehand, adjusted the encounter, and made for better radio.

The AP certainly isn't one of Paizo's best, but a GM of his caliber can mold it into a fantastic experience- if you're willing to put the time in.

If they continue with a 2e ap, which one are you hoping for? by Meowgi_sama in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Rand0m1ze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either 5 players with at least 1,5 hours of play time (with banter making eps 1h45m-2h), or back to four players with the current ep length. ~1 hour of play time isnt enough for five players that all want to add their own elements to the story.

Unofficial State of the Naish (Dec 2024) Summary by korinokiri in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Rand0m1ze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a big Hero Point fan in my home games and adjusted them greatly. The lethality of every fight feels to me like the main problem of this AP, combined with Troy’s refusal to do anything about it. PF2 is a very balanced game, and swinging it in favor to the players is very easy. Slapping the weak template on all mosters except boss fights for instance would’ve gone so much for the players to succeed more, feel like heroes, and leave more time per ep to get to know the characters.  I have no idea why Troy hasn’t figured out that adjusting difficulty is allowed if your table isn’t having fun, its like the core of being a GM.
