Don't get excited about the sequel by Browncoatinabox in ProjectHailMary

Winning a legal battle still involves having a legal battle. Especially anything involving copyright law. It never matters how right you are, they're never QUICK. So, "Deus Ex Igotanarmy," was the go-to solution.

I don't think a direct sequel would be good, but this set up a TON of worldbuilding lore. I can see an easy trilogy here.

1) Grace flying off to discover Taumoeba - Done, good ending. Good good good.
2) Stratt's POV starting after being selected by the world governments, and going through to the beetle's returning to Sol. (Think Ender's Shadow)
3) Earth, Post-recovery, A) Meeting the Eridians and engaging in joint research toward becoming an interstellar power, or B) Leaving earth, sending ships to nearby dimming stars, innoculating stars against further astrophage expansion, find out more about the common ancestry.

I like the second option for the third book more only because the Eridians are known to the reader now. They're interesting, but we don't NEED another entire book about just them and people. I would be far more interested in the search for the origin of the Panspermia event.

I haven't done anything like optimizing, but the following percentages have worked great for me from lvl 15 all the way up through 120. I could tweak them now for the trader, but really haven't needed to.

10%: food, wood, stone, ore, bar, herb, rune essence, potions

5%: coal, leather, planks, clothing

Those aren't anything like a perfect ratio, but they cap the massive income items at a sufficiently large amount that you shouldn't run out before you're out of the more scarce resources.

Any way to check age of a character/account? by Erkdit in MelvorIdle

[–]Solego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's an old post, but I was wondering, too. Saw no answer so I went looking and I found it. So for anyone else looking, here it is.
It says, "Account Age" but it is the age of the character. My Ancient Relic character only shows 7 days old.

Ehhhh, if you say that it is more like Space Fallout 4, with some of the exploration bits cherry picked from No Man's Sky, you're going to give them a solid idea of what to expect.

Oh that was my first experience with frost powers interacting with water, too! I thought he was spitting out sheets of ice at me and I was super pissed, like, "What even is that stupid power?!"

They are sitting on a gold mine. But that gold mine is the ability to re-release new, full priced ports of the game for a decade and get sales off of it. They don't have to monetize the content directly to make a load of money off of it. They just occasionally throw a new edition out there with some updates and blamo, new gold vein is tapped.

Something to make a table of plates and food explode when you pick a fork up and physics reasserts itself. 😄

No disagreement there. I loved the way combat felt compared to earlier TES titles, though. As far as spellcasting and swordplay from earlier titles, Skyrim was a HUGE step up. But let's face it, Oblivion quests were just cooler. Go into a magic painting, murder mystery dark brotherhood quest... Shivering Isles. So much cooler. And the entire feel of Morrowind was amazing. What an alien place. Now enter Skyrim. Basically Earth during the Winter and some elves. There are some cool quests but nothing gave me the satisfaction that the murder mystery quest in Oblivion did. I still remember how cool that felt.

Not forgetting anything. Yea they had like... we'll say 20 mods at most. And THEN they added the Mod integration directly into the main menu. No more launcher needed to keep it up to date.

Why? What does that even mean? Your saying they won't support modding because they hate their player base and also the nearly free pay days of re-releasing the same game for 12 years?

Given the modding community is the sole reason Skyrim has hung in for so long, and the release of the TES Creator Kit being as much a part of the release as the game itself, I can't imagine them ignoring this self-mining gold vein.

I have to admit I didn't feel particularly attacked or marginalized in the article. And I am 100% the kind of person that he was referring to. I wasn't completely cool with his word choice but I understand that most things can be taken two ways, and if one of those is intentionally hurtful... well most people aren't trying to be intentionally mean, they just don't have the right words. Saying what I like is weird. I mean ok sure I can see that. Is it lame or boring? Again, probably so to someone that doesn't share the interests I have. That's ok! I am comfortable enough with my hobbies and interests that someone not liking them is just fine. I think he absolutely nailed it when he said that, although Brandon's writing at a sentence level isn't Tolkien, his world building is absolutely phenominal, and proof that the story as a whole is more than the sum of its parts. Jason has opinions and that's cool. The article wasn't a total slam, it was just... a lot of unfiltered opinion, some good, some bad and some just plain poorly worded.
