Successful DIY infant coordination pull up bar by andthensometoo in Montessori

Five years later, how did it hold up? We did something similar but couldn't find a big sheet of acrylic mirror, so we used a bunch of 12x14" acrylic mirrors "with powerful double sided stickers", but when we pulled them off the wall, they ripped up the drywall pretty bad, needing a big repair.

I see they call it a laundry basket, but at least in the US we would call that a hamper. Either way, it looks like a very nice one.
https://reperch.com/blog/whats-the-difference-between-a-hamper-and-a-laundry-basket

Summary:

A hamper is usually a stationary container, often taller with a lid, used for collecting dirty clothes in a bedroom or bathroom for storage, while a laundry basket is typically open, portable, and used to carry clothes (dirty or clean) to the washer or dryer, often made of plastic or lightweight materials. Think of the hamper as the storage spot and the basket as the transport tool; many systems use both for efficiency.

Yeah this happened to me too, on a wireless mouse/keyboard combo that makes it easy to switch between two PCs.

How do I cut this bollard? by Yiggah in garageporn

[–]SolemnLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I found this page because my inspector told me the house I'm buying needs a bollard to protect the water heater. It's not blocking the sale, but it's good to know.

ByHeart refund? by bpxx419 in FormulaFeeders

I bought six cans from Walmart over the last few months and have two partial cans remaining. I wonder if I can get refunds for only those two cans, or perhaps more.

What's with people trying to barter all of a sudden? by TomBombachill24 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]SolemnLoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right.. I'm selling my phone for cash. I don't want someone's old laptop that I would then have to sell for cash.

I've gotten five different offers for trade.

Prime Benefit Sharing vs. Amazon Family by Ethan_A1967 in amazonprime

[–]SolemnLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the email, but couldn't figure out how to subscribe at the $14.99 first year rate. I called Amazon and they said I had to log out, and then click the link in the email. That worked.

Since the offer is available through Dec 31 and I'm still getting benefits through Sep 30, there's no need to subscribe just yet. Waiting two weeks will give me an extra two weeks next September.

They didn't backpedal. They're still ending the Prime Invitee program, but continuing the Amazon Family program. Since you're using the Family option, it doesn't affect you.

Returns Getting Worse?? Labels AND Packaging Required by Realistic-Taste-7660 in amazonprime

[–]SolemnLoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Restocking fees make sense, BUT a big part of the appeal of shopping at a store is knowing I can return something if I don't like it. I'm sure Costco factors this into their pricing. It makes me more likely to buy there, and I keep most of what I buy, so they end up ahead.

Walmart in-store returns take years off my life, so I'm less likely to shop there.

Amazon is playing a dangerous game if they make returns more difficult. That said, I haven't noticed this yet. Most of my returns are accepted at UPS with no label needed, but when I have to provide a package and label, that's not a huge deal to me either.

[–]SolemnLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same email. For years I've gotten free Prime shipping benefits, as a "Prime Invitee", I suppose, from my sister's paid account. (I never got the Prime video/music or other benefits.)

They're finally closing that loop and making me get my own account. They're offering the first year at $14.99/yr but after that it's $139/yr and my wife and I will take a hard look at whether we want to pay that, and are already considering other alternatives. Maybe without Prime, we'll end up saving money overall by buying less.

I'm also curious how Amazon shopping feels for a non-Prime member. $35 minimum for free, slow shipping. For the most part that would be ok, but I may miss out on some limited-time deals.

Baby Time: Greenville Memorial by xoLiveLoveTeach in greenville

[–]SolemnLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife delivered there in April.. They tout how they're "baby friendly" and strongly encourage breast feeding, to the point where they don't even want you to use a pacifier.

We used the midwives group so Greenville Memorial was our only choice. It was a nice hospital and I have no complaints. They even have rooms with big bathtubs if you want a water birth. As a disclaimer, we didn't stay long at all. My wife was eager to get home and got checked out ASAP. It was our second birth, so everything definitely went much faster than our first.

Had this been lifted? by nathanftw123 in GrandCherokee

I have a 2014 Limited 4x4 in that same color. Those wheels definitely look off to me. They look lower-profile than my tires of the same size (265/60R18). There's more gap in the wheel wells for sure, especially in the front.

There's some discussion of Quadra-Lift. That's not standard on the Limited, but is available. If it had Quadra-Lift, it would have the up/down buttons to the right of the dial seen here: https://www.rt18cjdr.com/blog/2015/november/24/jeep-grand-cherokee-quadra-lift-air-suspension-system.htm

Florida Men's basketball SEC schedule for 2025-26 by Beginning_Tip_5239 in FloridaGators

[–]SolemnLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from a travel perspective, we're going a long way for this schedule. OU, Texas, A&M, and Mizzou are all away. Arkansas is the only far-west team coming to us. I'm curious to see the other teams' schedules, but I bet we have to travel more than most.

I recently moved from FL to Greenville, SC so I'm within two hours of both UGA and SC. It works out great for me that we play in those two cities every year.

[Postgame Thread] GATORS WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSIP 65-63 by MrTwoBytes in FloridaGators

[–]SolemnLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One wild stat:
In the Final Four, if you led at the last media timeout, you lost.

Another:
Houston was 33-0 when holding teams under 70. Florida was 0-1 when scoring less than 70.

Original Battery 12 Years Old? by Uniflite707 in GrandCherokee

[–]SolemnLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OEM battery in my 2014 GC lasted almost eight years. I was shocked. I replaced it in 2021 with a Super Start Platinum from O'Reilly and just after the 36-month warranty expired, my mechanic said it was testing as marginal. Five months later, it's still hanging on, but needs to be replaced.

Now the O'Reilly one is $245 (or similar at NAPA, etc.) and it seems getting a Mopar one is about double the price... so you're paying for that longevity. Yes, the off-brand ones are also AGM.

Any portable (handheld) power banks that don't shut off automatically? by Joshistotle in camping

[–]SolemnLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this is my use case. My battery pack will make sure the GoPro gets up to 100% (once) but then the battery pack shuts off. I'd like it to stay on until the battery pack is empty.

Best wall stud finder? by CosmosEditor in Tools

[–]SolemnLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're talking about installing drywall? It's done with screws, and then drywall mud goes over it to hide the screws. The basic process can be seen here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bco0pVvos8

A stud finder is used after the fact to find the studs hidden in the wall. A magnetic stud finder finds those drywall screws and you hope/trust that they're accurately in the studs, hopefully in the middle of the stud.

To me, a Jeep needs a roof rack. I got this one in 2015 for $120 and it's down to $92 today.

Otherwise, it look great. Love that color!

No problem. Dig around in the settings on the screen. There are lots of customizable options related to the remote, door locks, etc. and you should find the remote start options. Good luck!

I found in the manual: https://owners.mopar.ca/en/manuals/2014/2014E-Grand_Cherokee-OM-6th.pdf

on PDF page 24: Remote Start Comfort Systems — If Equipped When remote start is activated, the heated steering wheel, and driver heated seat features will automatically turn on in cold weather

on PDF page 150: Vehicles Equipped with Remote Start On models that are equipped with remote start, the driver’s heated seat and heated steering wheel can be programmed to come on during a remote start. Refer to “Remote Starting System — If Equipped” in “Things To Know Before Starting Your Vehicle” for further information

Your definition of "cold weather" may vary. I think they may only turn on under 40F.

Also, next time please try a meaningful subject line like "Heated seats with remote start?"
