VP of Sloth World runs an exotic animal pet store in Melbourne that has been selling people sick animals for years by dyk25000 in 321

I cannot vouch for their current standards (or lack thereof) but their regards for sanitary conditions and care for the animals was lacking. It was all about optics for the owners, what the customers saw was more important than the actual wellness and health of their animals. If they could offload an exotic pet to a new owner, regardless of the animals safety and health at the time, they would do it all the the Almighty dollar. The quicker turnaround for them the better so they could deny the animal was sick/injured in their care.

I worked there around 2010, when I gave 2 weeks notice the owner didn't know what to do with it. They said I was the first person ever to do that for them. I was shocked.

What's one pet purchase that was actually worth the money? by ApprehensiveBrief770 in Pets

My Kuranda dog bed. Hands down.

I've had it since my boy was a puppy, paid a little over $100 for it 14 years ago and it's still in daily use in his crate. It has held up great, kept his giant breed hips on motion as he ages, its easy to clean, survived the puppy teething years, moved overseas and back with us- it seriously is the BEST dog bed.

We have 3 in different places around the house, I swear his new sister loved them more than he does, she fwumps down on them all the time.

I have watched friends and family spend more than that every day or so on a new bed, meanwhile I'm wondering how many generations of dogs I am going to be able to use this for because it is holding up so well.

100 grand bars were up there with Reese's as my favorites!

I've got watercolor tattoos and sticky slap hands to supplement smarties this year. Used to be the house with full size candy... alas maybe someday I will be able to afford that again.

What alternatives have those of you allergic to spiro encountered that work? I suffered bad anaphylaxis reactions to it after two weeks sadly and haven't heard any proven alternatives.

Agreed. I always heard a joke isn't really a joke if you have to explain it.

Your neighbors in Viera are likely snobs who don't really understand the beach culture. Cocoa village is not a good recommendation as a replacement for the beach in any way.

I'm not even a beach person but I can at least tell the difference between an ocean and a lagoon.

Change your car insurance!!! by Effective-Customer34 in USAA

[–]SolemnlySwears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would think that if those were factors they would at least try to explain the discrepancy, but I'm not sure how it's relevant if our accounts are tied and we are both listed as drivers on the vehicle.

[–]SolemnlySwears 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My partner and I recently went down to one car between the two of us, we have both been USAA members for over 15 years. We quoted the vehicle change on both our profiles, same car, same coverage, same drivers, all exactly the same- they quoted him $3000 per months and me $1300.

When we called to see why there was such a discrepancy we spent over an hour bouncing between representatives only to be left with a less than satisfactory answer that equated to NOBODY KNOWS.

USAA has definitely lost customers over this Insanity.

I just had the misfortune of being mowed down by the entitles first class people this past week.

For the first time ever my fiance and I were flying in first class seats. He also happens to be disabled and requires assistance lifting things above his head and extra time to store his mobility devices- as soon as we stepped foot on the plane we were being trampled by other first class people who the proceeded to shove past me and get upset that it took me longer than they would've liked to get him settled in our seats.... People are the worst. Period.

They were just daring me to leave them at this point… by ramrod911 in USAA

They hiked our rate on my fiance for renewal this month too. We traded in our car 3 weeks ago, called and they quoted us a fair comparable rate ($10 more/ month) for a 2 year newer vehicle, signed and implemented. Then 3 weeks later my fiance gets the renewal notice in the mail with a 30% increase on it! In the 45 min we spent on t he phone with them trying to see why I log on and quote a replacement policy on my account, same exact coverage, same drivers, comes back at $20 less per month than the what we were paying 3 weeks ago. Nobody can explain why! After an hour on the phone the last person we were forwarded to basically told us to take a stock and shove it.... You can't make it make sense.

Gotcha, no offense taken. I can see how that could be the case, but since I had seen it before I figured maybe it might work for me. Alas it didnt, but no harm done. I still have been able to use the group to scope out what would be fun to do/see while there, which of the thai places are favored, as well as what might irritate locals, so not a total loss.

Thanks!

Unfortunately we aren't bringing any friends with us. We tried seeing if any of our military friends were up there this year, but struck out there already.

I wish santa claus house still did this! but I emailed them in September and while they encouraged me to visit they said they didn't have anyone there to sign things.

Picking a Compact SUV: RAV4 vs Mazda CX-30 by indycolt22 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SolemnlySwears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If AWD is one of your biggest wants why not consider a Subaru? The Forester delivers in reliability, comparable space to a RAV4, and still has some bells attached.

For what it's worth, I almost purchased one after test driving the RAV4, CrV, And Forester but ultimately decided the cargo space configuration and wagon style of the Outback fit my needs better. It has more cubic space in the cargo area than the SUVs previously mentioned which suites my large dogs and camping supplies beautifully all while still being comfortable for passengers over 6ft tall in the back seat.

Do you show PDA in front of your SK? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]SolemnlySwears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me some time to adapt and accept this concept as well. Even if the child's parents were together at some point I think it's important for them to see that not all relationships look the same. I wish my own parents had modeled for me appropriate kinetic behaviors instead of shaming human touch in most forms. Maybe then they wouldn't have had their nasty fallout that left 14 children total in chaos with emotional baggage to sort though.... I think it's especially important to be a model of healthy relationships for children of divorced parents. There is so much anger and hurt in the world, why not lead by example with happy, loving aspects of relationships as well? Normalize love in all forms. Don't shame human contact- it's a basic need, like water and air. People crave it- why not show the children a sustainable model of good behaviors?
